Nope. I’m a libertarian and a cornerstone of the ideology is personal liberty. The government’s - or a corporation’s - right to do anything stops where it comes into conflict with my personal liberties.

I’m betting not.
And if I disputed their interpretation of the contract, where would that leave us?
I bet they didn’t even have a “computer selection” ... it was probably some half-witted gate attendant randomly picking names.
Incorrect.
This comment needs to be at the top. 100% correct.
You know what the checked box represents? A contract. You know where contracts are disputed? In civil court.
Actually, the police/security/airline may have entirely been in the wrong. The airline broke a contract and the police/security became improperly involved. The passenger wasn’t risking harm or making any threats, therefore there was no cause to put hands on him. If the airline intentionally reported that the passenger…
If it’s a matter of a contract, then that’s a civil matter between two parties and it gets disputed in court. The police are not lawyers, judges, or juries and are not involved until after the judge renders an order.
I’m not so sure it boils down to a simple trespassing issue, and even then I’m not sure a police officer or security guard can manhandle someone like that. Take for instance renters and squatters. If I am in a house and refuse to move out, the landlord can’t just walk in with the police and toss me onto the street.…
I think part of the problem is that the gate and flight attendants are empowered to make tough calls and in my experiences most of those folks are mediocre at best in the brain department. It seems the entire airline industry is scraping from the bottom of the barrel.
I read in other eyewitness reports that the man was knocked out. A young man can take a pretty good knock to the head and be fine, but that kind of hit can kill older folks. My guess is he regained enough of his senses to get back on the plane but was likely still pretty stunned and not able to really communicate the…
I don’t mean “small government” in the sense of we should privatize everything... no that’s stupid... but in the sense of not passing laws on a national level that work better on a state or community level. I’m all for government run programs that have a universal cause, like healthcare, welfare, and retirement.
Lack of engine noise has been an issue since headphones (portable) became a thing. So at this point, it just feels like a culling of the herd if you’re not paying attention.
I love riding but as I get older, the more I worry about the inevitability of this kind of thing happening to me. I’ve had my share of falls and road rash, but I’m losing confidence that my bones will handle another landing, so my next bike will have ABS and traction control.
I like to think that in the early days I listened to Rush Limbaugh - mid-90s - that he struck a nerve about moralism; the same for Matt Drudge when he outed the Monica Lewinsky scandal that the MSM refused to air. What they were saying was making sense.
Wrong.
Well, then you’re confused about what constitutes harm. Smoking pot won’t do anything to your liver, so it doesn’t make sense to have that disqualify you.
If on the other hand, you need a liver transplant because you’re an alcoholic and continue to consume alcohol while on the transplant list, then that should…
There’s a lot of hyperbolic misinformation in what you’re describing.
Marijuana does not by default come with fungus that will harm someone anymore than encountering the day-to-day risks of life. This is like perpetuating the myth that all amphetamines are made with battery acid in a bathtub... pretty sure that’s not…
I have some pretty strong opinions on this issue.
Arthur Caplan is 100% correct, and the reasons are actually more nefarious.
My wife has lupus had to undergo her second kidney transplant after the first was rejected due to the donor type not matching. The first was done at the University of Chicago, by all measures a…
