And those free days are a fucking nightmare. I have had a friend ask me to meet her and her son at the Shedd Aquarium here in Chicago a few times, I’ve just never been able to (or have remotely wanted to go). I live 8 miles north of it, public transit would take 90 minutes (or a $35 cab one way), its crowded af...it

Agreed. I’m 42 and I just recently adopted my fourth dog-and I love the judgy comments from certain people: “That’s a lot of dogs...isn’t that expensive?” Yeah...about 1/10th of the cost of ONE kid. Good thing I don’t want any. That shuts them up.

Yep. My biggest pet peeve are people who get their dogs from breeders and then feel the need to tell me (a rescue advocate and dog foster): “Well, I needed something easy.” Fast forward a year and those dogs are the biggest nightmares EVER. Meanwhile I have fostered some of the best-behaved, crate trained, house

Yep. Absolutely 100%. I’m a runner too, I have dogs that require really long walks, and I don’t have a car (so running errands requires lots of walking, carrying a heavy backpack, taking trains and buses), and I work from home. It’s a lifestyle thing and I can’t function in uncomfortable clothes that I can’t move in.

Scunci makes these thin black headbands that are basically giant ponytail holders, but a headband. Try CVS or Walgreens. If those don't stay on, nothing will!

Also she knew she was going to get photographed. I have to say I race a lot, I worked as a makeup artist for MAC for 10 years, and I wouldn't race in makeup. Mainly because I wear contacts and I don't want sweat mixed with makeup in my eyes.

I tried to find her at the end but I couldn't, because she was probably already at home by the time I finished :) and this race is uphill for 13 miles. Zero to 4,000 feet. She killed it!

I noticed this woman at the start of a small half marathon I do in Santa Barbara every year, she was super fit, pretty and had an entirely full face of makeup (including false lashes) on at the 6:00 AM start. She won the race.

My hair has zero texture-especially when super clean. I spray it with texturing spray, then slick it back in a low-ish ponytail, spray that with texturizer, braid it, then spray the crap out of my entire head with super strong-hold hairspray. It's a process, but it works.

Headbands with a silicone lining, super duper strong-hold hairspray, and bobby pins.

I live in Chicago too, and run about the same pace, just under an 8-min mile in cold-ish/comfortable temps. However, I force myself to slow way, way down this time of year (although today is perfect temp). I just surrender to the fact that when I push myself in heat and humidity, I end up overtraining and getting

Chicago is “great” for walkability? Yes...if you think it’s great when cars actively trying to run you over, then yes, it's great.

My one-eyed, no teeth, all sortsa messed up, doesn’t even look like a dog, 16-year old Pom rescue. His owners were alcoholic hoarders and both died. Got him 2 months ago and he's the biggest sweetheart ever.
