One does not simpl-- oh shit, it worked

It hasn’t been hit with one of those big months-long dust storms yet, thankfully. But when it does, it might not have enough battery to shake it off when it’s over. And those dust storms can make the sky very dark, so it wouldn’t be able to recharge even if the solar panel was clear.

Well like regular nuclear power stations it’s not reaction itself that’s generating electricity but rather the heat from the reactor is just boiling water to turn a steam turbine.

Cool but rude. We don’t take that Turtles: Out of the Shadows revisionism around these parts.

In some ways it IS kind of like they just met and decided it.

The company town is not an innovation, you clod!

That weird, unearned death was definitely one of the low points of that final season and was very emblematic of the whole “let’s clear the table by sweeping everything off onto the floor” approach to resolving the story.

Oh no, better remove a bunch of content and sell it to the lowest bidder for some quick cash. That’ll probably help.

It’s a little like Mercedes deciding to change their name to “NiceCar” (except “Nice” isn’t Mercedes’s low-end brand like Cinemax). Like, did the execs not realize the name equity they had in HBO?

It’s so silly. They have one great prestige brand (HBO), which they’ve been systematically downgrading now to the point where it isn’t part of the branding at all. The new branding in fact much more closely evokes one of their very worst brands (Cinemax).

It’ll be bigger than Cereal Killer: Against The Grain!

If the “alleged” LGBTQ content isn’t the problem, though, Variety does add that various other Barbie things have been banned in Saudi Arabia because of the way they depict Barbie herself, with the article presenting the theory that the Gerwig movie is “too camp while also posing too great a challenge to traditional

They really don’t see the problem and it’s disgusting and pathetic. I can see the “whoops” in mistyping, especially since cops don’t seem to be all that bright and apparently it’s too much for them to know the postal abbreviations for states. Okay, fine, they made a mistake there. I can see that.

The ideas where *so incredibly* basic, 100 course level, surface-skimming concepts that the fact The Gamers(tm) reacted the way they did still dumbfounds me when I think about it. I cannot think of a single thought experiment more harmless than any concept she discussed.

Smithers, I’m starting to think this Elon Musk fellow is not the brilliant tactician I thought he was.

I hope it lives up to it. When I first read Dracula as a teenager, the Demeter logs scared the ever loving shit out of me (the only part of the book that scared me), so expectations are high here.

Absolutely!  And I’m definitely planning to watch the movie, I’d just be more excited if they weren’t telegraphing the ending.  A movie about a completely doomed crew fighting to the last against an unstoppable evil is far more compelling to me.

It’s not always about the destination, but the journey.

I think society changed enough since then that we all collectively realized how silly it was that we prudishly shamed Reubens for doing a totally harmless normal thing, and Reubens felt that.

You mean we’ll enter the “finding out” phase of fucking around?
