The battery thing seems to be a Subaru problem. We’ve had four Subarus over the past five years or so and all have had the OEM battery die.
2014 here, 55k miles, zero issues.

Yeah, the 2.5 is a real drag. I mean, it’s not bad, but there’s a big difference when you step up to the 3.6 (although that engine is a gas hog - looking forward to the turbo 4).
