This review, and the line from Polygon’s impressions (“This game respects your choices, not your time”) reminded me why I didn’t finally click with the first game until I bought it again on Switch, many years after its release. Once I could pick it up and put it down with ease, quickly resuming where I left off, those

This is all down to useless leadership that rarely ever face consequences for their terrible, awful, no-good decisions.

I feel AI is just a product that gives the soulless executives the reins of control from the creative people that we take for granted. This is quite the expression of such.

i really think i’m gonna upgrade my internet and get this sucker. i’m getting rocket league vibes in that it feels like a game that could have come out in almost any generation and always been a smash.

There were right wingers who thought The Colbert Report was on their side. No matter how obvious you make your satire, there will always be people who think it genuinely agrees with them.

I would rather have a person managing the tides of war than an algorithm. A person knows how to react to player sentiment and keep things interesting, a computer doesn’t.

Its the MMO thing all over again. Everyone was trying to get inon that sub money WoW had - and no one could really do it. Everyone one of them spent a ton of money and fizzled. It took how many years and a massive reboot before FFXIV came along?? That is a lot of studio time and money dumped in the trash heap.

We’ve reached a point in the games industry where trends are moving faster than development cycles, and the results are calamitous.

A smart exec would say, “Hey, this is popular in this moment and won’t be by the time we’re done, so maybe we should make something different.” But then again, when was the last time you heard about an executive that could see past the next fiscal quarter?

Yeah, true! I think BG3 is the only other one in the last year to really light people up like this

Not a spreadsheet in sight!

We should all take a moment and smile.  Games don’t often turn on our imaginations like this.  Humans can be cool.

Honestly, the best thing about Helldivers is that within like 2 weeks of release we’re getting stories that read like things that came out of Eve Online without having to play Eve lol.

They removed everything we wanted from Black Flag, except ship combat. How could they have misunderstood the fanbase that much?

Those aren’t mutually exclusive statements. The negative attention pre-dates its release.

I’m reminded of how Michael Eisner basically saved Disney by producing one or two expensive tentpole films per year surrounded by a bunch of low-budget, good-but-not-outstanding movies. Basically the entirety of Touchstone kept the company solvent. The fucking Ernest films prevented a hostile takeover of Disney. And

It’s not terrible. It’s just not great either

Comparing Suicide Squad to Hogwarts Legacy is like listening to the sales team leaders where I work comparing advertising sales from major election years to years without elections and then expecting the same results.

Utter foolishness, just like the idea everything must be driven by ever increasing sales at all cost.

It’s the everything has to be a live service mentality, that ruins games and developers.

I don’t think anyone would be complaining if this had been “Bill, Vendor at Mr Beast, Inc” coming down to help with candy bar stocking. I get that, you’re right that they’re there not just to help their products but to help employees. But when the near-billionaire CEO with ungodly internet power personally comes down
