This is the exact response they should have made. If cosplayers are any indication, some people do like dressing up in impractically-skimpy outfits, but that shouldn’t be the only thing that’s available. More available cosmetic styles, not less, that’s the ideal.

I’m with you on this one, honestly. I’m all for critical writing that dissects issues and frictions in the creator’s work. But you do actually have to...discuss those issues and frictions, or at the very least say more about them than this. It just feels like no thought was put into this at all.

But, to be fair, that m

If that was the point of the article, then why the tangent about GoT being “rooted in imperialism and sexism”? Why the complaint that the book had been written in the 90s and not updated enough for the show? Why the mention of Cixin Liu politics?? Why the implication that Benioff and Weiss should not be adapting The

That’s fine. Give more options so everyone’s happy.

Parker said the decision to not remove the revealing outfits players criticized about from the game wholesale because it wanted to balance the experience for “hardcore fans” and players in the U.S.

Honestly, this team is brilliant at adapting existing work. Everything they adapted from the author went over very well, for the most part. It’s any time they created their own ideas whole cloth that the quality dipped dramatically, especially when they ran out of book to adapt and had to write everything.

Thank God the people that made this thing I loved are nowhere near it anymore...

This comment is going to condemn me to grey forever, but whatever - I don’t like the tone of this piece. It’s condescending, confrontational, but also very shallow. It throws a lot of accusation at a lot of people - Martin, Liu, Beniof & Weiss and Netflix, but it doesn’t give justification for any of it. It doesn’t

So now that all the good writers are gone, you guys are going with 100% outrage instead of the usual 85%? The last years of the AV Club are gonna be so lame.

Thanks.

The photographer used a neutral background so the graphic designer could add whatever backdrop they wanted. And the graphic designer said, “That’ll do.”

What on earth?!

I was honestly curious, because I don’t know where “watered-down goth emo” enters into Good Time, Cosmopolis, High Life, or Tenet, among others. But it would semi-accurately describe his work in the Twilights.

Best wishes going forward for you Dowd. I enjoyed your work here very much over the years and this place is most certainly worse for not keeping you around

There’s some movies you can tell are bad just from the theater poster or DVD cover.  Every thing about that picture screams “This movie is terrible”.

Thank you for your reviews, Dowd. You and the rest of the writers stable deserved so much better. I can’t wait to follow y’all wherever you land.

Dowd flourishes his cape and disappears into the dark of night one last time. Godspeed, sir. Until the critic-signal appears in the clouds again, we’ll be watching.

A.A. taking a bow with a solid B, on a superhero film no less? Now I’m real excited

Farewell Dowd. You and basically everyone working at this site were so much better than J/O Media deserved.

Dowd, I’m glad the last movie you reviewed for this site was a halfway decent one. I’ll miss your good work around here.
