Some of them were actually really nice people. My son absolutely loved his driver from 2nd grade (she was a genuinely kind person) and a few others. My uncle was one up to his 70s, and he was like a grandpa to the kids on his route. But most of them were plainly looking forward to the end of the day.

You know what, if you’re so worried that people who serve your kid are only in it for a paycheck, perhaps you should insist vthat only those who will do it for free be allowed to. See how well that works.

That’s inexcusable. My wife drove special ed buses for 10 years for a company that contracted with the school district, and they had a zero tolerance policy for that sort of thing. The guy who owned the company was a former driver and was hardcore into student safety. During her time there IIRC 2 drivers were fired

The busing companies that win these bids are shit. We had a recent case where the same driver and bus monitor drove students home, locked the bus up, and went home for the night... leaving a special ed student on board, who had to break out and hitchhike home (the area is toll-roads and highways) 30 miles- TWICE IN

Ugh, Mrs. Mateen and the unnamed parents. I’m so sorry for you all and your losses. You want to think your babies are taken care of and safe and when you have to do it [thinking of the previous complaints and incidents reported] with a pit in your throat then the threats of law over your head like a fuckin’ truant

She reported the driver back in August and went to the BOE. She even wrote a letter to the driver which was read by the Principal to the driver. What the hell happened in between then? This is really, really heartbreaking.

You mean the year Obama steps down and Trump officially becomes president of the US?

Durham Bus Services got the contract this year for my child’s school district. They will be getting a call from me, asking about procedure and how they vet our bus drivers. Jesus, this story breaks my already broken heart. I’m empty. Where is 2017?

Anything right now. Anything except hospital grade 5pm dinners.

Oh absolutely. He turned her into a crazy weepy woman, AND he destroyed jack by making him crazy from the start. The visuals of the move are amazing but he shit all over the narrative.

“...and is reportedly attempting to secure Duvall health insurance through SAG.”

People don’t know or refuse to recognize that there are different kinds of depression which just makes it harder to deal with and get respect and understanding for as a real disease. Most people don’t think of it as a disease at all but simply a phase that you’ll get over if you just cheer up.

Jez is not reporting on her mental illness. They are reporting on the exploitation by doctor Phil.

There is literally no moral or intellectual reason to report on the ugliness of a single person’s mental illness.

Whenever I watch “3 Women” which is one of my faves...I ALWAYS feel as though I took a drug that sends me to an alternative universe...and I felt that even in the 70s...when it first came out...saw it when I was WAY TOO YOUNG to process it...Shelley was scary for REAL in that one...great actor...with a most arresting

Exactly and if the shining is the only thing you know her by, you would think she was a terrible actress because Kubrick destroyed the character and turned her into. A screaming nag. The Wendy of the novel has her own agency and inner life. The Wendy of the movie is a sniveling mess.

I’m glad that the article brought up 3 Women because she was great in that.

I’m peeved that people just reduce Duvall’s career down to The Shining. Her career is chock full of great directors and her exemplary work behind the camera for children’s entertainment. She is a gentle soul and does not deserve this, leave her the hell alone.

this woman is horrendous but it’s not fair to generalize one racist to all young teachers. Teachers who go in knowing they won;t be paid much. who spend an average of $500 a year of their own money for their classroom. Obviously, there are some awful teachers but generalizing isn’t fair to the tens of thousands of
