Usually after a very sore throat or hospital stay. Just had my appendix taken out a month ago and my fear was I would develop a cough shortly after my one day stay. Whooping cough - worst ailment I’ve ever had...and that includes kidney stones and diverticulitis. I’ll take three days of intense kidney pain over 3-4 months of consistent coughing and phlegm that would completely block your airway, any day. Horrible infliction.
