Challenger and Sunbird were pretty much the same size in length and width. Challenger had 3 extra inches of WB but the pricing was similar as well. Both were offered with base 4cyl. engines, which makes them econoboxes - of that era.

The two bikers riding in the opposite direction were very fortunate. Right place at the wrong time.
The ones that he married also get a pass.
Torontonian here - who sings both national anthems regardless of what the event is, is disappointed to hear that, but not surprised. But I’m confident that it wasn’t anyone over the age of 40. Sadly we have a generation of idiots growing up here in hog town.
Such shameless desires would drive people’s perception of one from that of AMC aficionado to boorish AMC bourgeois. One must walk a fine line.

I’m with JustinS on this one. One of the Bandit.
Bias based on nostalgia. That’s acceptable.
Actually, it’s the Pontiac version of the Chevy Monza. Both the cars were created off the original Vega platform. Fortunately, this one got the Iron Duke four and not the Vega’s four, which required more engine oil than gas.
Thanks for putting together an article on this movie. I loved it when it came out and a young Diane Lane is nothing short of stunning. Good soundtrack and an even better fight scene at the end. The downside is that this movie is hard to find on DVD, and when you do, they want a King’s ransom for it. Wish it got more…
No, but I will give you a mulligan on the Hornet AMX. I kind of liked that one and it’s potential for modding.
Unless a 70's Farrah Fawcett was on the hood.
Good point cause I saw a gaggle of them go across Barett-Jackson’s stage in Palm Beach last week (eyeroll).
Every domestic econobox was pretty much “shitty” back in 1979. Omni, Colt, Challenger, Pinto, AMC Sprint ring any bells?
There’s more to this story that we know. Losing team was actually a cricket team from India.
Detroit Diesel 71 Series inline 6?
I had a chance to drive all of the V8 W-Cars. The 5.3 was a smooth jewel and the cars rode & handled very well.
That little chrome GM Badge was totally a Rick Wagoner idea. He thought that the auto market was flooded with so many Brands that people had lost touch with GM’s brands. thus the little badge to remind younger buyers that Chevy’s, Pontiac’s, Buicks and Hummers were made by GM.
Everyone beat me to it, but I guess we can file all the Singer-VW comments under this thread going forward.
