Huyang reminds me a lot of the robots on the cover of 80s Asimov reissues . Which makes sense , since it turns out they were drawn by Ralph McQuarrie ,and his early droid prototypes for Star Wars were pretty similar in style.

typeusernamehere already mentioned that he’s swinging a bullroarer, but I thought it would help to hear what that sounds like. You tube video code 2ODGE2f7gLQ (embedding was disabled by the owner).
That’s Gateway swinging his bullroarer that allows him to teleport people.
That’s Gateway, he’s an Aborigine and he can create portals that can lead to any place, time, or even other universes. Creating the portals requires a lot of focus so he spins the sling around as a kind of meditation ritual to help himself concentrate.
It’s certainly an aesthetic that was more or less the standard way to depict female heroes for several decades. Part of it is related to the general idea of super heroes as modern interpretations of ancient godly pantheons, but a lot of it was just sexism from an industry that was dominated by men. Things like that…
It could have mentioned that Tom Brevoort is number 2 so its pretty much the boss stepping in to run X-Men now that they matter again.
And that’s why large breasts are referred to as “the most common superpower”
Mutant circuits, mutant magic/mysticism, mutant ascendancy, and a casual approach to free love/polyamory in place of love triangles were all a massive breath of fresh air.
They were extremely popular for years on end and able to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Spider-Man and the Avengers
In the grand scheme of things when there were events such as half of humanity being wiped out, alien shapeshifters in the highest positions of world government, rogue robots, evil extragovernmental organizations trying to rule the planet, witches that can create dimensions, and gods, the idea that mutants are the…
The headline is clickbait. The actual content is “Longtime editor Tom Brevoort is moving from the Avengers to the X-Men.” That’s it.
Awesome cast, Diggle from Arrow, several former MMPR actors aside from JDF, looks great! RIP JDF, dude was a legend, I’m glad his final film not only got finished, but is releasing.
Shorter Disney: “What the fuck is this?”
It has Mark Dascascos. “Shitty but fun” is his entire film & television career. Which is why I also can’t wait to watch this.
Diggle!
the media disappeared in the blip
Will this mystical steelbook answer what happened to the White Vision “clone” after this series wrapped up? Has there been any development, hint, or glimpse of where he flew of to after this (so far) dead end storyline?
How much do you want to bet this is because including physical discs would involve paying some of that money to the actors/writers/other creative folks involved in actually making the series?
DC Animation has built up a lot of good will with me even if they’re not all winners (looking at you, 2023 Legion of Superheroes movie). I enjoyed the Flashpoint & Justice League Dark movies in particular quite a bit. Crisis feels like it should be a mini-series though - would be hard to do it justice in 90m.
Don’t we have enough gritty modern reboots of beloved 80's cartoons?
