The war wouldn’t have been fought if there’d been no invasion. The war was about secession. Secession happened because of slavery — for the first states. After war became inevitable, the rest had to secede as well.

Most of them were built around 1909 — which is, coincidentally, when the southern cities were rebuilt after being burned down. Do you live in a southern city? Go find your monuments and then check the date when the building around it were built. Correlation — and a simpler explanation for the timing.
