I’m not too worked up, but these definitely hit me as wrong.

This is going to be interesting. Some stupid ass blockchain/NFT products such as NFT Worlds are built on top of Minecraft. I hope Microsoft/Mojang go after their asses and shut them down.

It will be a use the code with no alterations and slap a Russian flag on it type affair, I’m sure.

In reality they would probably just grab the (freely available) Unreal Engine 4 source code and ignore the licensing requirements for its use.

Do they? Italy, South Korea and Singapore spring to mind as wealthy countries that don’t allow same sex marriage.

I mean, every wealthy country that isn’t the US has universal healthcare.

That’s at least X-Pac heat adjacent.

Don’t count on this ever seeing the light of day. Tencent’s various studios have been working really hard to produce PC games for years at this point with no success. Eventually, they’ll figure it out, but who knows if it will be with this project.

I get you (and I don’t think you’re wrong) except the devs have no say here. Blizzard devs didn’t do much of any work on this bad boy. It was all or nearly all done by NetEase devs. The devs’ bosses (or in this case, probably bosses’ bosses, business people rather than producers and directors) were kind enough to not

In addition to the terrible trash covered in the article above, SNK tried to get in on the scam with unclear results.

Exactly. You’d be hard pressed to find a dev who is excited to add a bunch of mobile microtransaction mechanics to a game they’re working on.

I doubt it’s the game content. NetEase knows how that works and I can assure you the China version looks VERY different from the global version. There’s a lot going on in China at the moment regarding video games and large tech companies, though. And pretty much any company trying to launch games is really struggling

Open MW is the preferable option if you don’t care about all the MGE XE graphical stuff. Sometimes I do though. Distant Lands alone makes a big difference.

By the way, there are some people claiming to be authors of some of the mods that are included in this pack saying that they were not asked permission to be included, which would make me reluctant to support this.

One of the REALLY nice things about DF Unity is the mod support. The GOG release seems to come with a lot of the most popular mods installed, which is super nice, but its mod handling in general is much nicer than Morrowind (needs so much help to mod without constantly breaking in the form of Mod Organizer or (gah!)

I’m 100% sure that we’re not buying the right to publish audio files when we buy video games. If this guy didn’t expect this or worse, he was living in a pleasant fantasy world. Especially when it comes to Nintendo. This was downright mild and appropriate for them.

This is a strange story, in that Nintendo just put claims on the videos, which does not impact the user’s account status just takes any revenue from the videos. Only strikes impact account status, not claims.. So the user took down the claimed videos because they wanted to.

I doubt he has to do this. Russia is the dominant chess nation, so they have tons of top players, none of whom have done what he has. In fact, most of the other top Russian players have bravely and vehemently denounced the invasion of Ukraine. I wouldn’t require that of anyone because of the risk involved to the

If you don’t like it, you probably understand it sufficiently.

Even the first idea doesn’t do much. You’re not going to save a significant amount of storage or CPU cycles by putting something in the blockchain. The only thing that makes the blockchain hypothetically advantageous is its trustless nature, but as a player, you’re still going to be trusting the game developer. And
