That's a good point. I think I'm most concerned that a Sanders nomination scares the right enough to drive some changes in the house. 

The DNC could definitely FUBAR this and run the risk of losing the house as well. If the GOP gets all 3 branches we'll be living in the handmaid's tale in 2022.
