He didn’t say a new car would be cheaper. He said the repairs would be more than the busted car is worth.

5 people in the the car calls for a minivan

“If your self identity is so tied to outward appearances and the views of others that you couldn’t be seen driving something utilitarian...”

Welcome to the enthusiast site where most of the commenters think you should only own the vehicle that most fits your functionality needs, regardless of any other factors you might consider important.

Flip side, I for sure would have gotten into a lot more trouble with a van at 16.

Well, there’s always some measure of that, but I understand that basic work is more likely to go to an appropriate level worker. In my experience (as a customer and someone who’s worked at multiple dealerships) I’m more likely to have a good tech at a dealer than a quick stop place.

“...but this is GM we’re talking about, a company whose idea of risk is occasionally ordering the seafood at Applebee’s.”

Part of the benefit for the manufacturer/dealer is that the free maintenance is a compelling reason to go there for maintenance. At least once a year you're there where they can pitch you either a new car or services (or both!)

Its enough with my 2019 and it gets me back at the dealership where I spend the wait timehinking of buying a new car instead of wondering if the jiffy lube tech actually put the oil in.

Just writing checks for people isn't the point. To be good, the govt needs to be good at ensuring that the money they're spending is being used in the most effective way possible.

Thats a big one for me. The luxury crossovers should all drop the cladding unless they're some kind of special real off road version.

“these reviews are being posted to potential customers from within the delivery service’s sites, not the restaurant’s website google reviews.”

This denies the restaurant the right to refuse these delivery orders. They may have no desire to be associated with any delivery service, and they're on the hook for the Apps service (or lack thereof in most cases)

Only applies if you can cook. Also, that half hour of cooking could be used for something else if you were busy, like ordering something for your lunch break.

Cops never need a reason to do that anyway.

“Meanwhile the readers make it easier to apprehend violent criminals.”

And there's never really a flop on flip or flop. If they lost their asses on one every now and then it'd be more interesting.

What I find the most annoying is that so often David finds a much better house for the people and they still stay.

I think Muscle and Monster might be closer to the truth

The problem isn’t the price of the items, it’s that wages haven’t kept up with inflation for most of the country.
