@melbicimni: Every iPhone 4 has this. Even yours. It depends on how strong your signal is. If you're in a location with good signal, you won't experience this. You are in a location with good signal.

@CoHPhasor: You do know that you can just use Expose to see your desktop quickly? It temporarily slides all your windows out of the way and you can view and also interact with your desktop while in this mode.

@Eulatos: I think you can see who 'demoted' you by looking at your comments history. Any idea?

@CamJN: Or to securely hold the phone just as Apple shows in many of their images of the iPhone 4 so there's less of a chance dropping it by cradling?

@CIM: Like a BlackBerry?

@Eulatos: It can actually be an issue in use as well. I've gotten slow speeds or even completely halted transfers with my finger bridging the gap. Mind the gap.

@peerless4u: That's what I was thinking but some people seem to think it's a defective batch or something since they haven't had any issues with this while others are saying they're all like this. So not sure what to believe

@camerondyke: My main concern is that I'd like to get mine swapped out, with the hope that it won't have the issue.

@HAL9000: This article is stating that the issue is location/signal-based, not based on a portion of defective phones. That you can reproduce it as long as you're in a bad signal area. So sounds to me that all iPhone 4s are affected and those who think they are not affected only think so because they are in a good

So are ALL iPhone 4s are affected? Every single one?

Has there been a test with two iPhone 4s tested side by side — one from a user who has the issue and one from a user who says he does not?

@crsrc: What do you mean by real world usage signal issues? Do you mean you have not been able to produce the problem with bars dropping or do you mean you can produce it but it doesn't affect calls you make or data?

@Zoot: What's odd about that 3G issue is that in this letter, they said this so-called mistake with showing bars goes all the way back to the original iPhone. So what about the 3G issue? Didn't they fix it at that time?

@Timothy Ratner: I really think it happens with every iPhone 4 — it just depends on your location and if it has a bad signal or not. You can get full bars in both a good and bad location. But if you hold it in a very normal way (and it can even happen with either hand), bars will drop in a bad location while remain

@Alleris: Also curious to know

@mloffa: or you never would have checked?

What's terrible is that the hand in the video is in a very typical and normal position in holding any type of phone, let alone the iPhone 4, and yet this is the exact position that drops your bars. It's so normal and obvious to hold it this way, just don't get what they were thinking.

@cubist_zirconia: Me too. Seems like Gizmodo comments have gone to shit lately, can't get an honest answer from a genuine question other than snide remarks and flippant responses. Oh well, I'll just get an iPhone 4. Apparently, I need an iPhone 4.

You know, I really like what I see about the Droid X but is it going to be like an Evo with minor differences here and there? My primary concern is just daily use as a mobile phone/app device. I don't care about HDMI or anything like that, and 4G is unavailable where I am. This is an honest question.
