And when James isn't in mind for an article, it should always make sure to ask "where's James?"

Shit you’re right, that’s a surprising omission.

I’ll summarize my comment from the best albums of the decade list; show me a person who says they come to the AV Club mainly for the music coverage and I’ll show you a liar.

i cant for the life of me understand the love the new Jenny Lewis album has received. I’m a fan but it’s a stinker.

You need to be writing more things with James in mind.

That Hot Chip album is a real triumph.

“This site got worse only over the last year” is quite a take.

Sorry we didn’t give you a separate best metal albums list this year, James. Our film editor, A.A. Dowd, recently ran down his favorite metal albums of the decade on Twitter if you’re curious.

neither Big Thief album being on here was definitely a surprise - I like Two Hands more, but U.F.O.F. seems like it was tailormade for an AV Club reader!

Eh, nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.

May I suggest “Old man crap“

Wait, Kid Rock has a restaurant? What’s its motto, “We never wash our hands”?

It’s kind of heartening that even the patrons of a Big Ass Honky-Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse realize this is to be booed and security removed him. He was jeered and pulled off stage at his own establishment.

His three-record run of Odelay, Mutations, and Midnite Vultures are still my favorites of his. I’ve always had a soft spot for Mutations. Once he started getting bummed out about life is when my interest started to wane (though I really like Sea Change).

Beck had a fantastic run; I loved almost all of his albums to one degree or another up until Modern Guilt. Then he just seemed to hit a wall and I haven’t been able to connect with anything he’s done since. I don’t really get the love for morning Phase when Sea Change is RIGHT THERE. This new single does nothing for

Midnite Vultures, Odelay, Guero, and The Information are his best records. Really not much more to say than that. I’m sure I could pull a song or two from each of the rest of them and make a decent playlist, but when it comes to full records, those four are really the only ones that are essential.

No, I don’t.

We do our best.
