Yellow Card for making too much sense! I doubt even two of these companies could get along well enough to put out a workable platform, much less talk Musk into playing with them.

Crazy idea: All the EV manufacturers pool their engineering and tech resources and design a super efficient, compact BEV skateboard. Then they all use it, but design their own bodies and interiors around it.
The key to design is in the proportion. I understood that when I was a kid in the mid ‘80s and Micro Machines came out. They got the details right, but the proportions were terrible, so I had no interest in them. Exaggerating the correct proportions could work well, but these aren’t about design, they’re about selling…
Intellectual property theft is sorta China’s thing
True of a lot of the country. The automobile, its supporting businesses, and the paved or at least improved highway were co-evolving in that period. The now taken for granted idea that state and Federal monies ought to drive highway progress was just being born in the early 1920s, and Eisenhower’s Transcontinental…
I’m going to call out the skill of the SUV that it landed on, for slowly coming to a stop, to avoid having the SUV on top sliding off, and worsening the situation. That’s some Jedi level stuff there. Good driving!
I’m with you on the shifter, it’s not necessary and a stubby column shift is a better instrument. It’s just a waste of space.
Actually, the S10 and Ranger were indirectly the result of the success of the early Toyota and Datsun pickups. GM imported the LUV which was replaced by the S10, and Ford imported the Mazda B series as the Courier until it was replaced by the Ranger.
Check the “Made in ______” under the chassis. I think you’ll find it doesn’t qualify.
The only thing that killed them was neglect and rust.
This. It’s like the Jeep mythos. GM reliability is utter nonsense.
In terms of just how long they last: Ford Econoline. They survive van life, they survive ambulance life, they survive UHaul life, they survive until they are clapped out half-running church transport.
I think this IS reading each other’s work.
I am going with this:
If my mom couldn’t kill a car, you knew it would survive with the cockroaches and Twinkies after a nuclear apocalypse.
MB is also partly to blame. I used to have a 300E 2.8. The standard 300E had a 3.2L engine.
I blame BMW for starting it. At least I think it was them.
Neutral: We had family that lived in Manhattan and used to visit for mini vacations. Its a fun place to spend a few nights and pig out on food you cant find elsewhere but I could never live there. There are days you just never see the sun through all the buildings and its always garbage day somewhere along the route…
