Sooooo jumping out of a car at 50mph would give me the human on foot running record

You guys really need to clarify that this is a paced cycling speed record, not a straight up cycling speed record.

I agree with you, she got towed up to 184 MPH. I could do that to, but I won’t.

No, this is bull and it shouldn’t count as a speed record. Air resistance is a core component of speed records. Removing the primary obstacle to the record makes the record worthless.

I noticed it looks pretty good in black, it even diminishes the...nose...bulge... ... ...codpiece.

The idea of putting people in charge of 20 tons combined weight and then telling them the truck will do the braking for them seems like a monumentally stupid idea. How does that even work with the CDL and DOT requirements necessary for that weight? Do they allow semi autonomous driving?  I guess they must or least

I see you’ve never dealt with a police officer before...

To say nothing of the importance of power spectrum in perceived noise levels.

Most likely not, but the point of all this is that the ticket is subjective; all the officer has to do is think it’s too loud and they can write a ticket.

I’m not as confident in that as you seem to be. The way the average cop thinks is more like, “That car is a lot louder than the other cars around it. It must be too loud. I’m gonna write a ticket.”

Then why isn’t the law written so that it is enforced (verified) objectively before a ticket is handed out?

Well great. California passed a law that will guarantee increased fine revenue?  Expect it in NY in 6 months or less. And let's be honest,  that's what this is about. It doesn't help anyone but the county's treasurer. Fix it tickets have worked for years, and idiots who don't fix them get fined. But with this system

Yeah, sounds to me more like giving cops one more reason for “probable cause” to pull over people and go on a fishing expedition.

Don’t be obtuse. That is a poor metaphor and you know it. The dB scale is logarithmic. It is also subject to highly variable environmental conditions, hence using a SAE standard for testing sound. The police are completely ignoring the standard, skipping equipping officers with the tools to actually measure sound and

Or worse yet, an unbaffled Harley.

That’s my main worry here. How is a cop supposed to know what 95db sounds like?  It’s a darn nuisance to have to bring your car to a smog ref for noise testing.

People who are complicit to a police state that pass laws which can drag you to court over a subjective decision are irritating anyways

What annoys me is the subjectivity of all of this. A cop can pull you over give you a ticket and drag your ass to court, even if your car comes in at 94 dB. You may win in court, but now you have to take a day off work or go without wages. It is nothing more than a stop and frisk law in vehicular form.

Great. My stock exhaust is loud as hell.

I wish this extended to Motorcycles too. Nothing’s better than going down the Turnpike and having your eardrums blown off by a straight piped GSX-er hitting max RPM.
