I think they’d just snap off, and then things would go really badly after that.

True jalops mount those to steelies and take them for a spin.

If it wasn’t going to be hugely expensive I’d have one in the garage to provide wrenching music, but the wording of that press release might as well said “You can’t afford this”.

Wow. So we get a Supra without Toyota reliability, a relatively high price, two engines with the highest output only being 335hp, and no manual transmission.

Because the 2JZ is a Toyota motor, bullet proof, and beautiful. As it is, you’re buying a car with notoriously finicky German underpinnings, thereby giving up one of the best things about owning a Toyota.

Ugh, when I saw the headline I really hoped the four pot would be a Toyota motor so I could get as far away from BMW tech as possible.

This car is going to be the most disappointing reveal ever. I would much rather have them bring back the Celica as a sports car for the people - a Mustang competitor that it originally was. RWD, retro styling, maybe throw some louvers on it, keep the price low so people can actually buy it.

Yeah, I agree that the whole premise is kind of dumb. Oh well. I would recommend that they do what I did (I am also a college student going to a school in Ohio that is pretty far from home) and buy the best shitbox they can on craigslist. $1400 for the car, $300 for six months of insurance.

But the person isn’t selling the benefits of having the car at school... the only statement for the car is they WANT to go home and CANNOT AFFORD $100 for the bus ticket.

$79/month payment plus gas, plus insurance (for a college student), plus maintenance is going to dwarf those bus tickets.

I still cannot comprehend 84-month loans.

Edited:

Less in gas, but insurance, oil changes, tires, parking lot fees, coffee/food for 5-hour drives, etc... I’d say they’re ATLEAST even.

I can’t afford to pay for a $100 bus ticket every break.”

RE: #2: I think everyone is ok with a “racing incident” if it occurs but dodging vehicles cutting across an active racing surface with no warning is not part of what they signed up for.

so wait...a tow truck at a sanctioned SCCA event got unsafely released into traffic directly onto the racing line with a non-waving yellow flag, hit and totaled a Spec Miata that costs at least $10k (probably more), and the SCCA is trying to weasel their way out of paying for Agha’s car?

Holy shit, I hope he rakes

Hit the tow truck? WHY?

Should fit in a Miata.

Wow, typical Corvette owner history. Buyer 1 - barely drives it because, to him, owning a Corvette is better than driving one. Buyer 2 - Drives it all the time because its the only car he has. Buyer 3 - Buys it to mod it and drive the crap out of the car.

This bugs me as well. I love seeing women in racing, engineering (I’ve hired them), and the automotive field. But pointing out “look, a woman did something!” just seems like shoving it in my face, as if I don’t want a woman to succeed. The sooner we can stop concentrating on someone’s gender the sooner it will just be
