I saw an ad this morning; it said “in theaters now” and I was shocked.

Imagine you’ve never seen a 3D movie outside of the local Science Center’s showing of some documentary about kelp. Then watch a pretty decent James Cameron SUPER EXPLODY movie shown in 3D that is a massive technological step beyond said kelp movie. It was absolutely fucking rad and I saw it three times. None of the…
I bought a CPU and got this game for free. I should probably try getting past the tutorial again someday. It seems like there’s fun in there somewhere I just didn’t see it immediately.
There’s also a plaque in a San Francisco alleyway marking a prominent murder location from The Maltese Falcon. I will say it’s pretty great looking at a map of the city while reading that book.
I personally like salted. It’s like a Payday or a Salted Nut Roll candybar, but in a smaller, customizable form.
Being the only place 20 years ago to deliver via bike directly to my dorm room was the main reason I liked them. Those tiny sandwiches are the basic menu, and they go great on a shoestring budget.
Literally the only negative thing I’ve got to say is why didn’t they give themselves haircuts before impersonating Imperials? It strained my credulity for a spy/heist story to overlook that, but you know what screw it, this show is great.
Shout out to my local spot - Burger Patch in the Sacramento area. Really great place run by really nice people. 5 locations and growing!
I stopped the list shorter than I wanted to because it was getting too long.
I should definitely say that it’s been about 15 years since I’ve had a Blimpie sandwich so I can’t possibly give a good review. I just liked it better than Subway even before Subway started sucking so hard.
The strongest nostalgia I think I will ever feel is for the heyday of LucasArts in the 90s. X-Wing and TIE Fighter, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, and Monkey Island. Just a pile of huge hits.
As one of the few people who had easy access to a Blimpie and Subway 20 years ago, I’m kind of amazed Blimpie didn’t take off like Jersey Mike’s is now.
I haven’t lived in the Midwest for over 15 years and every time I go to visit I get some Casey’s pizza. There’s something great about the doughy crust combined with the surprisingly good sauce and the frankly excellent toppings. There is something about the cheese and sausage that are something you can’t get in…
I bought “Cooking for Dummies” when I was in college. Turns out it was Cooking for Dummies With An Unlimited Budget (at least from my perspective at the time). I got a Betty Crocker cookbook next it’s never left my kitchen in 25 years. The sugar cookie recipe in there makes the literal best cutout cookies.
I physically recoiled at the headline.
Decades ago when I was in college it was a big story that a McDonald’s hashbrown almost killed a guy. He said to himself, “Sure, it’s been sitting on my shelf since yesterday, should be good still” and got botulism poisoning and an ambulance ride.
I feel like there’s an archivist, art restorer, or Dead Sea Scroll technician somewhere in the world that could get those apart.
This feels like the same thing as the Dwarven Forge conundrum - spend hundreds of dollars on assets, maybe get to use them. Add to that the need to make it a full-time job to create the environments and I don’t ever see myself using this resource. I run VTT games and about 25% of the time I’m just using a blank map…
I’m going to have to check the price per ounce on this stuff. That’s the reason I don’t eat more jerky.
I got the game for free when I upgraded my CPU a few years ago. I made it through the first chapter and never looked back. I think the fact that I don’t have any money involved has kept me from really trying to enjoy it.
