Interesting. I didn't know that they were buying houses. While that makes me feel better, it's still difficult to muster sympathy for rich people problems, regardless of where they're from.

In theory, but they also could be sending their kids to American public schools for high school and college, like UCLA, which are subsidized.
I was curious too since the article mentions that they contact doctors. But I bet a lot of them are going to whatever ER accepts patients without insurance and they pay nothing.
The problem I see (and I feel so republican saying it) is that they aren’t paying taxes. These kids will come back for high school and college (many of which will attend a state subsidized school) and the financial burden of paying for that will be on us. I see this as problematic because these are wealthy families,…
Agreed. Businesses that are private in the US (I’m assuming Ireland has a similar law) can’t discriminate against protected classes but this is different. People are outraged because they don't think what the bakers did is right, but people don't always believe in the right things.

Her husband has anger issues and can be very emotionally distant, but she would never divorce him because of her quality of life. It’s interesting- I think you see a lot more divorces among the 1% in New England or California than you would in the south. It kind of makes the whole wife bonus dynamic worse because the…
Yes all parties knew ahead of time.
Sister 1 is, sister 2isn’tisn't
To his credit, she is terrible with money. That couple lives in a rural southern town so the dynamic is different than with Sister 2 where she was successful and independent.
See my response to BrightEyes. Happy to answer any questions! As the sister who will have to work her whole life to pay off student loans, I think their lives are fascinating.
For one of my sisters, she and her husband have been together since they were very young and he only became this successful (private jets, exclusive vacations, nannies, multiple houses) within the last 5 years though they’ve always been comfortable. Because he has an accounting background, I think this is honestly to…
