I think there was a solid month where I would wake up in a panic around 3 AM thinking my baby was smothered on my side because I’d fall asleep feeding her or forget I’d put her back in the bassinet. I had to start watching TV while nursing just to keep myself awake. Every mother I know has done the same thing, but

There was a similar news article about grandparents backing out of driveways and running over kids. Murder is murder becausethere’s intent; we tend to forget because we live such insulated, protected lives that tragedy happens and we don’t live in a world with Hammurabi’s Code anymore so maybe we don’t need to assign

I mean I was 8, my parents had divorced a year prior and she was back in the workforce. In retrospect, my poor mom probably blamed herself. Also, in retrospect, I should have broken them all- she’s been trying to give them to me since! Those, the lladros, and those weird dolls in costumes from different European

I was 8 and I’d gotten locked out of my house (this was back in the early 90's when you could be an 8 year old latchkey kid and no one cared). Hey Dude was on and I really wanted to see the next episode, so I tried all the windows to find one that would be unlocked. Unfortunately I couldn’t get to the windows because

Avant garde ghosting is an awesome descriptor!

He only told her initially that I was an acquaintance of his. I had taken an Ambien so I responded “yeah we only know each other biblically” and then it went down hill from there. I should have probably included that I went full Roseanne Barr in the story.

I hooked up with this guy I met off Match when I was living in Austin. He’d wanted to call me to go on a second date but was leaving town for a month for a work thing. In the intervening month I moved to Colorado with no warning and told him I couldn’t see him again because ain’t nobody gonna do long distance after 1

And instead people just shoot up in the park next to my house in RiNo! Love finding needles when I take my dog for walks

I work in legal for a Fortune 50 company negotiating software agreements. We work VERY hard to protect our customer’s data, and the actions we require of our software providers are reasonable given the state of the world we’re in these days, but I can’t begin to tell you how much pushback we get when we try to hold

Yes! Custard apple, passion fruit, lychee, rambutan, dragonfruit (the white kind, not the nasty red kind)... so many amazing things!

Thanks for the clarification- you don’t know me and so it’s reasonable for you to be suspicious. I was present at the event and was myself very uncomfortable about her statements. I wish I’d taped her or that someone had, but sadly I think was so surprised at what I was hearing that I didn’t know what to do. If I

I wish that were the case but I don’t believe she received any formal feedback beyond women walking out on her speech. And it’s only been a year...

Yes absolutely- You see this attitude a lot in every industry from women, especially those older than millennials who put up with a lot of BS. It’s the same rationale for why hazing occurs.

How am I supposed to provide links to a private event or private emails? You honestly can’t believe that a female comedian would put down other female comedians? Listen to Ali Wong’s set and it’s pretty evident there’s a lot of messed up stuff in the industry...

No it was a Junior League only event, under the title University League. There were about 50 people in attendance

Yeah those statements by her don’t surprise me. I went back to look at some of the post-talk correspondence and she apparently spent about a third of her speech derailing from talking about her success story to tell us she didn’t think the me too movement was valid and that women shouldn’t be coddled. If they stopped

It’s both a blessing and a curse right? My pain isn’t bad, easy to ignore. I hope the same for you

Don’t visit Comedy Works. Wende made comments last year at a women’s networking event for Junior League of Denver about how women comedians are not funny and she doesn’t respect them or desire to book them. It was honestly shocking, all the women in attendance ended up complaining about how misogynistic her views were

Scrolled around and didn’t see anyone bring up my condition yet: syringomyelia. It’s got all the fun things: chronic, different kind of pain depending on where the cysts in your spinal cord are, difficult to diagnose, rare, and dangerous to operate on. The good news is that I’d built up such a tolerance to low grade

I agree with you there. I gave birth last month and didn’t even know I was actually in labor until I was almost 9 cm- wasn’t painful, just uncomfortable. The tears afterward didn’t hurt either, but that dang catheter did! Also where they ripped the medical tape up off my back after the epidural too- flesh wounds
