Barring a handful of interesting one-off episodes, the Simpsons stopped being relevant about 20 years ago. The first few seasons might be interesting for nostalgia’s sake, but I doubt too many people are going on a weekend-long Simpson’s binge with D+.

The manners police can wring their hands all they want about Castro not tiptoeing around what everyone else in the room is thinking. But that is nothing - and I mean nothing - compared to the level of criticism Biden will face if he goes directly against Trump. If Biden can’t get his shit together now, it’s not

It plays well to certain crowds...but the legality/logistics are unclear, the whole process would be quagmired in court for years (probably wouldn’t make it through the SCOTUS) and it still wouldn’t solve the broader issue of gun violence due to most of it being due to handguns.

That about sums up the next 14 months for me.

Eh, I wouldn’t say it’s “malaise forever” so much as a question of priorities. When you’re covered in honey and fire ants, *not* being covered in honey and fire ants anymore is a lot more pressing than pretty much everything else.

The stakes may or may not be high for any one of the candidates at this point, depending on who says something either brilliant or catastrophic. But as far as my level of personal investment? I’d hope Warren keeps building momentum, or that Castro has a breakthrough “wow, this guy really could be president” moment.

This review simultaneously reminds me of why I haven’t rewatched TMP in 20 years, and yet leaves me almost curious enough about it to see it again.

It can’t be any worse than the movie version.

The 11 seems nice and all, but there’s not a huge practical reason to upgrade if you own an 8 or newer and it’s in decent shape. Might as well wait for 5G.

I was torn between getting a midrange Garmin or Suunto GPS watch to track my runs, and waiting for the price to drop on a series 4 Apple Watch to do the same, but with better smartwatch integration. The series 3 doesn’t seem like it’d have the battery life for the rest of a day after tracking a long run.

I suppose it beats their initial plan of introducing mountain lions and anacondas into the sewer system.

Eh, it was a “Have you beat your wife lately?” question designed to make her look either careless about the environment or heavy-handed about the role of government in shaping consumer choices.  I’m totally cool with her reframing it to a more meaningful discussion.

God, this series sounds awful.  Haven’t boomers screwed up the world enough without going on outright killing sprees?

Pissing off the cons is always worth it.

You almost had me until my brain short-circuited on how to connect the BSG reference to the preceding media commentary...

In fairness, the more grounded comic book movie approach worked well for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. They haven’t replicated it since, but I can’t fault them for being willing to get experimental in light of the questionable state of the DCU.

Welcome to Gilded Age 2.0.

Is that inherently bad? No, of course not.

Yeah, I could have been moderately interested in Joaquin Phoenix replacing Jared Leto as the current iteration of the DCU Joker in a stand-alone Batman movie. Or in a story completely unrelated to any comic books that just so happened to star Joaquin Phoenix as a stressed out, middle-aged guy who completely loses his
