Who would have ever imagined that a speculative investment that generated about a 1600% return in 2017 might also have a huge downside potential, too (especially if you bought it at the high end of that 1600% run-up)?

What the hell was anyone really expecting him to say?
Damn misleading headlines.
Meh. *shrugs*
Last year’s resolution was to unfriend toxic people (or at least unfollow those I still see face-to-face, where it might cause an issue), and cull out the harshest news and opinion outlets. It was pleasant, but a bit of an echo chamber. The agreeable voices were finally louder than the screaming trolls, but the…
I get that there are security concerns with Huawei and ZTE’s cozy relationship with the Chinese government. But if you’re going to go all tinfoil-hat anyway, the reality is that most mobile phones (hell, most electronics in general) are made in China, regardless of the brand. If the Chinese government is going to do…
Ha! It’s a trick question. Pretty much all jeans are made with child labor. The only ones that aren’t cost 5x as much and are made by robots that were used to eliminate other kids’ jobs.
That’s pretty much why they sent him as the ambassador to the Netherlands. See also: guy who couldn’t remember the DoE being nominated...to run the DoE. Also, guy who spent years suing the EPA to stop enforcement of environmental rules in his home state nominated...to run the EPA. It’s just how they roll.
I got a pair of Anker Surge headphones around Christmas, and they’ve been great. Makes it hard to justify dropping $100+ on “premium” BT in-ears. If the Slim’s are anywhere near as good, I wouldn’t hesitate to get a pair. But if you’re buying them on Amazon, keep your eyes open for coupon codes that put them sub-$20.…

As the not-so-proud owner of both a BA and an MA in communications, I can confirm this. A garage full of cannabis plants in a decent hydroponic setup probably would have been a way better investment.
Imperial Japan possessed neither nuclear weapons to retaliate with nor any way of delivering said weapon even if it was available. Plus, the alternative of having to invade Honshu to end the war would likely have been absolutely brutal, just in a conventional sense.
The negative overreaction to this game when it was released was kind of absurd. They had about 90% of the bugs squared away within 6-8 weeks. Sloppy QA on EA/Bioware’s part, but the game itself still has a lot of upside.
Nah, we’ll just wait until there are mobs of hungry, angry peasants rioting in the streets, and then we’ll shrug our shoulders and wonder who could have possibly anticipated such a turn of events.
Funny how conservatives are all about unrestrained oil extraction...until it threatens their own state’s tourism industry, fisheries and/or well-being.
They still make the Vapor Glove and that’s about as minimalist as you can get. They’re not the most durable but you can usually catch them on sale for $60-ish if you’re flexible on the colorway, so replacing them a couple times a year doesn’t hurt too bad.
Merrell Vapor Glove FTW!
Merrell has also carved out a nice piece of the minimalist running niche, which helps.
With the direction this administration is going... we’re probably going to have widespread open dumping of highly toxic chemicals in public places before the year is up. And that’ll kill everything, cats included. Let the cats be happy for what time they have left. It’s nothing compared to the ecological disaster…
Same here. I find them much less likely to make me shout at my electronic device than watching the regular evening news, and less likely to make me want to engage in political violence than accidentally stumbling into the comments on stories on CNN’s Facebook feed.
Meh. Let me know when it’s included with my Prime membership, and I’ll be somewhat interested.
