Do we really think a superhero sequel that had to be completely rewritten after the Star passed away is really gonna win an Oscar for anything other than costumes or special effects? Especially given Marvels very uneven output since Endgame

I wouldn’t Grantham parole either.
I’d argue the anti-capitalist themes are more of a background to hang the show on, and the primary narrative is centered around the contestants and whether or not they decide to be human beings or animals.
Some cool wins for Squid Game. Still not down for the supposed Season 2 Netflix wants. The last episode alone showed that digging too deep into the concept just unravels it in bad ways.
I watch “Ted Lasso.”
I’m so glad for Matthew Macfadyen because he was so, so good in Succession this past season. Goldstein’s win for Ted Lasso is a bigger surprise for me because I thought Roy (and the show overall) was better written in the first season. My vote would have gone to Henry Winkler, who blew the doors off of season 3 of Barr…
I mean, I liked TG:M...I was entertained. But to say that the the characters, especially Maverick, were not superheroes is a fucking streeeeeetch.
Yes. The movie about the 60 year-old man who can fly the end mission from Star Wars a million times better than a bunch of 20 year-olds is definitely not a wish-fulfillment superhero movie.
While I did enjoy the Buddenbrooks and the Magic Mountain quite a bit, I’m not particularly certain this new venture for Thomas Mann has me very hopeful, seems a bit out of left field.
It was just so sad and stupid. He hates having to kill this creature, and then he botches the job in a way that increases its suffering. It was horrible.
Her “defense” of “women” and “homosexuality” was just calling trans-men confused autistic lesbians.
It seems to me like subbing in “women” in place of “people who menstruate” is far more reductive. Not all women menstruate. I’m not even just talking about trans women, I’m talking about women who’ve gone through menopause, or any of the other myriad reasons a woman might not menstruate that have nothing to do with…
right now it’s 85-percent courtly machinations
If Alicent is sleeping with any Targaryen in this series so far, it’s Raenarys.
I *do* think Hightower wanted Alicent to fuck the king - I just don’t think she had it in her to try and do so (which, in the long run, was the right move even if she didn’t intend it as such).
I miss the days of Newbie and Expert reviews for GoT on the AV Club, because they would actually, ya know, review and analyze the show and were written by people who had a clear interest in the material they were tasked with reviewing. If this is all we’re getting then what reason do I have to come here after I…
There’s been no evidence shown they had a sexual relationship.
The Black Death, despite killing 30% (or maybe even more) of the population of Europe and Asia, led to significant increases in quality of life of the survivors in part because the value of labor went up dramatically.
Sam Levinson asked Sydney Sweeney to shoot 15 topless scenes as a response to her departure. Vital to the story, he reiterated.
Sad to see her go, but given what her character was given in S2, not that shocking. Even sadder is that Euphoria’s lost a pov that millions of girls/people saw themselves reflected in.
