Thought of a great movie scene based upon this.

Bottom line is that blackface is off limits - it’s kind of like how, without any language, cultural content, closing your fist, but extending your middle finger is meaningless. But in context, it’s something else.
ugh - child protective services is the worst job in the world. these are people who accept low pay, incredibly emotional stress, and very little gratitude, for doing the incredibly hard work of protecting kids from shitty caretakers.
I don’t have a problem with strip clubs being closed. Frankly, they do nothing to normalize or encourage healthy sex or sex habits.
That Helios laptop at the top is an absolute steal. I bought one last November, and it is amazing for the price. The only thing I added was a 2TB HDD for game storage. And they make it super-easy to install an additional 2.5" SATA drive (single screw opens a bay underneath).

Sure, she gets bonus points for being an incredibly poised child, and for a decently-written speech, especially if she penned it herself.
Are they really surprised? Viewers root for him because of the storytelling, not in spite of the storytelling.
nah, Carmelo willingly made a deal with the devil. Skyler married Dr Jeckyll, and got stuck with Mr Hyde.
I agree with pretty much all of this list. However, American Beauty Mom was outrageously mean before American Beauty Dad started acting out.
As the Times notes (in fact, they made it their lede, which was rather missing the point), Meier is a famous and accomplished architect.
Not all grievances are genuine. Some folks don’t do well under pressure, and hate getting chastised (no one likes it, but some are way more wounded by it than others).
I don’t work on film sets, butin the long past I worked in a couple of environments where bosses sometimes lashed out at employees. Mostly men against men, sometimes women against men, and sometimes men against women.
Right, it’s just regular discrimination.
Seems pretty pointless to me. Not sure what/who/how this helps. If nothing else, a gun pic was a nice little time saver, LEFT.
it really was, wasn’t it. Terrible, I mean. Still, I made sure to watch every single episode, so it must have done something right. I think it was the 30-minute run-time and short seasons, and just enough dialog-ical cleverness to make it slightly better than doing nothing.
I realized that I didn’t give it any thought on first couple viewings. It was only a recent viewing that I paid attention and noticed there’s no description of renewal, and the carousel is described as a contest, but all we see is floating and exploding.
You say “um” as if “of course I’m referring to Kobe ya dumbass”. This article didn’t mention him once.
You’re likely right, but cinematically, it’s very unclear. They keep calling it “chance for renewal” as if only some renew. But there is no visual difference in carousel between renewers and non-renewers - they all blow up. And they never bother explaining exactly what renewal is (reincarnating as a baby I assume?)…
I was writing generally, and am not sure to which specific case you’re referring. My take doesn’t reflect the only issue; I just see it as the biggest problem.
I love watching the original movie, but only because the initial memory of it is embedded in the “rose colored childhood memories” part of my brain. It’s profoundly silly in ideas and execution. I’m not familiar with the source material - maybe it has nuance or something interesting going on.
