I read the entire thing. I mean, I believe her- he sounds truly awful. She writes well - she’s clearly bright. So she absolutely, beyond any doubt, knows there will be zero confusion about whom she’s writing.

“Also...she literally doesn’t name him. How does she get “payback” if he’s not named.”
That’s not going public. I’ve talked with others about what I went through (friends, family, therapists, group therapy). The equivalent would be to broadcast it around specifically to the ex’s circles: career, social, extended family. That’s when your motives must be questioned. Are you trying to help/warn others,…
what are you even saying? I was in an abusive relationship, and now I’m not. Is that clearer?
I kind of messed that up. I don’t care about his career - i hated him before, and way more now.
I don’t care about him getting hurt. I didn’t like him before, and like him far less after reading about this. I’d be happy to never see his punchable mug again.
Why do we reward people for talking smack about their famous exes, in the hopes of causing career harm.
TL;DR stay in your lane.
I love this picture. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, because my daughter is about to apply to college. I’ve broken down the “what do I want to be when I grow up” conundrum into three primary considerations. And it works for the arts as well as for “the professions”
Thank you!
Note to artsy, hyper-intellectual parents out there, who feel that they shouldn’t alter their vocabulary around their very young kids... For example:
The Venn Diagram of “enjoys a night at the theatah” and “is a jimmy buffet fan” are two circles which barely touch (enough for a brief, sad run).
It’s clear that Fortnite went out of their way to copy the key innovations of PUBG that made it special.
The white people on this site have this strange idea about the world - they honestly think cops are only mean to brown people. Got news for you - outside of upper-middle-class suburbs, and upscale cityscapes with coffee shops and hi-rise luxury condos, white people constantly get mixed up with the law, and get their…
That photo was way way way over the top. The only difference between how she was treated and how a man would have been treated, would be the man would get fewer comments on his appearance. This would be career suicide for any famous person stupid enough to actually do it.
Actually Lena said she had actually had information refuting the claim. She walked it back anyhow, because she knows where her bread is buttered. I don’t know what information she had, or if she was talking out of her butt, but if she did and kowtowed to the mob, that’s way worse.
For those who doing risk analysis, that amounts to like 3 per 10,000 drivers, or 0.03%. and fairly close to the number in the general population. Maybe a very slight tick higher
People, men and women, lie, exaggerate, and misremember events to their own advantage. Neither gender can claim high ground on this.
I know what it is referring to when used academically; I just hate the term. Same with White Privilege - academically it means something specific and hard to argue against, but the choice of words leads to a lot of misunderstanding and misuse.
I appreciate how you call out sociologists. The misapplication of these ill-constructed terms is an issue. People are usually referring to “pandering the visual nature of male sexuality, at some cost”. What that cost is varies case-by-case. But thanks to the cheap naming convention, many think the visual component of…
