You gotta salt the crap out of avocado, make it look like a very isolated nor’easter hovered over it for 2 days. That’s the only way to make avocado not taste like baby puke.

Almost nobody cares about the Supreme Court.

That is certainly true for Catalog films like SW, LOTR, Godfather, Dark Knight or whatever. But most films don’t fall into that category. For example: Jupiter Ascending - I’m sure lots of people downloaded it just to have something to watch on a Wednesday night, knowing full well it would probably not be great. How

I miswrote - “variety pack” is closer to what I intended: a curious mix of young and old, business attire, and crazy fashion, neat hair and spiky bleached craziness.

Is there a wikipedia article that explains Japanese tv? I’ve been there 7 or 8 times, and every time I turn it on, it’s a panel of randos gabbing about something, with tons of graphics and text superimposed. Often they eat noodles.

I know’s he old hat, but can we like Eminem? or he is bad now too, retroactively? being mostly serious here.

There’s absolutely no value judgement attached to the word. I meant it in the literal sense: as “made less sensitive”, not the hyperbolic media usage. My ex was overprotective about media/screens when my kids were under-5, so they were hypersensitive once introduced to media, and it took a while to get them out of

It’s a tough sell for kids raised on hyperactive CGI films. Heck - my kids were initially bored stiff by Star Wars. When they got a little older, like 8-10 or so, then they settled down in a way to appreciate slower films.

exactly, I’m aware of anime films for teens, and way more for adults, but not so much with the kids. The thing with Ghibli is how they are more universally, and safely kids films, even if more for older kids, like Mononoke/Spirited.

I watched it when I had a 2 year old daughter, and wept and wept. And wept some more. Holy crap what a goddamn sad-ass movie.

I’d say Spirited Away is a great movie for 10-an-ups (or desensitized 7's)

I’m psyched the oscars are over - quite tired of seeing Matt Damon’s sliced ham face.

TN: I said, “I want more diversity.” And they said, “But this is what we’re getting.” So I said, “Then I will go out and look for it in the street.”

...which was only a minor revision of the dorothy hammill hairdo from a few years earlier

exactly - the courts didn’t fail her, though maybe somehow “we” did? I’m trying to think how I, or maybe Ms Davies failed her. Maybe it’ll dawn on me tomorrow.

You could not copy DC games. You had to download a scene release (before the boon of piratebay, megaupload etc), and use a very specific burning software.

Agreed - sure - DC piracy didn’t require chipping or modding to play burned games, but it’s not like the postman gave you a free game every day, you had to work a little for it, which gates out most console folks.

I bet a reinstall would do it though. You’ll still have steam’s drm getting your personal back.

I too wish demos were still a thing, but I get why they’re not. And there’re plenty of resources to help you decide whether a game is worth your money. Plus there’s simple waiting. Eventually just about all PC games become discounted to lunch money. As in office cafeteria lunch money.
