Maybe because being politely outraged didn’t fucking do anything and the world is being literally ruined for every creature but, possibly, ourselves? We’re going to literally drown millions, if not billions of people or at least their former habitats, because we were politely objecting to bad policies in the 20th

Beyond the (multitude!) of issues with NFTs I think part of the reason why it makes people angry with rage is the interactions it brings with it. Merely mention NFTs in any context some places and you’re flooded with bots promoting whatever scam. Every creator gets spammed by NFT bros trying to convince them to join

I gathered some thoughts around the time that the Shang Chi movie came out. (I enjoyed the movie):

Its laughable to believe Microsoft wants anything to do with Bobby Kotick or honestly the vast majority of staff at Activision.

If your gut reaction to this is to get defensive (like many people in the twitter replies) then it might be time to start examining your personal bias.

Reminds me of George Carlin’s airline announcements bit.

They mentioned concerns raised during the investor call over potential dips in monthly active users and big influencers leaving the community as a sign that players have gotten Activision Blizzard’s attention.

It is not unfair. if you have a problem with them. Stop giving them Money.  Any other solution doesn’t have any impact

“Personally, I’ve chosen to remain subbed, but I also think boycotting is a valid response,” they told Kotaku over email. “A combination of both sides working together is what’s going to grab the leaderships’ and shareholders’ attention.”

I’m just gonna go ahead and plop this right here:

I wonder how many of the viewers right now are dudebros actively watching to “support the boys.”

Sonetime the tone is bad, sure, but this article doesn’t have any of that. It’s stated at the beginning that this is a smart, reasonable move AND that it's the decision. The article is bringing up how afk players are unique and cool in FF14. Bugger off, man, and bother to read.

A half-hearted attempt at lumping this in with the annual “kotaku sucks” zeitgeist? Why not I guess? Feeble reach tho.

When is it shitting on gaming? This is one writer on the site just expressing an opinion that bums her out a little bit. It clearly comes from a place of love of the game.

Maybe relax a little.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the article, it actually can't be folded into AC:Infinity, because the tax breaks for the studio were contingent on launching a new IP. AC isn't a new IP so this has to launch as a separate thing.

I mean this game should have been a Slam Dunk. Just make a open world single player pirate adventure “just like Black Flag”. Add cool upgrades, and cosmetics for your character and ship and improve on the basic mechanics.

I just don’t understand how they screwed this up that badly.

Absolutely; I’ll add my own kudos, they’re well deserved. Fantastic work.

Hear, hear

This is a nice longform article in the vein of Jason’s Schreier’s reporting of behind-the-scenes game development. Glad to see this article type again. Great job!
