I don’t know that I would address it directly like that, they might take offense. In my experience, presenting yourself as a good ally is the best thing you can do, and let them decide how they want to act around you. (I’m white, fwiw.)

I’d ask him exactly what he thinks “smells like tuna” means and go from there. Best case scenario, it turns out there’s some other explanation for why he said it. Worst case, you force him to explain himself and confront the fact that it wasn’t okay.

Yeah, the weather changes are nuts. Last week we had a huge snowstorm in NYC. Now it’s in the mid-60s. We’re definitely fucked, right?

I’ve been feeling myself getting sick all week so I decided to skip my usual Saturday morning martial arts class and sleep in. I ended up sleeping for over 12 hours so I clearly needed it! I went grocery shopping with my partner and cooked some soup. Tomorrow if I’m feeling better I’ll try to spend some time outside…

Lana Del Rey is a real guilty pleasure of mine. Her whole concept is the antithesis of anything I want in my own life, but I love her voice and the chill sound that most of her music has. This new track is really good! I’m also listening to the new Jidenna album today, really digging this track:

I wish band prom had existed back when I was in high school! Today we took a nap, watched a movie, and cooked chicken stew with biscuits. Tomorrow I’ll do some baking and shopping.

Tomorrow I’m going to make some Valentine’s Day sugar cookies for my students, and start making cupcakes for the staff at my school. The cupcakes will be devil’s food with cream cheese frosting and raspberry filling with an anatomical heart candy on top. I’ll probably do the candies tomorrow and the cupcakes on…

The British Museum was the only museum we were able to make it to in London, and I’m so glad we braved the crowds. Seeing the Rosetta Stone was awesome. And they have an “Enlightenment Wing” that looks like an old timey library/giant cabinet of curiosities. Dark wood, tons of books, lots of neat stuff in glass cases.
