I know, I wasn't trying to argue that we should take away our guns, or that they're never warranted in self-defense, or that it's stupid to protect yourself. I just get irritated whenever someone makes the "Well in TEXAS that shit don't happen 'cuz we got guns!" argument.
Evidently it does fly there. Texas is smack in the middle of the country for road rage at #24, and Dallls/Ft. Worth is the second worst city in the country for road rage (at least for 2009, hard to find more recent stats via quick googling).
It happens, and in Texas, too.

Eagles are just a tool! Dingos have been making off with babies for YEARS and nobody rushes to outlaw them!
Wait, Mate Petrany misread the question that Mate Petrany posted? Hmm...
Yeah, they're not exactly popular, but they are out there if ya look for them.
"That being said, I don't think those people who would ban semi-automatic firearms would draw a distinction between double-action revolvers and a Glock, given that both expend a round per trigger pull."
Indeed. Funny how a little miscommunication can lead to:

It's such a goofy, happy car. The weird turn signals and weird high-but-squat ride height remind me of a weird frog, happily hopping its way down the road.
I agree with just about everything you said, especially that last paragraph. We'll just have to agree to disagree on whether a technology can/has become dangerous enough that failure to properly secure it can be considered a crime when that technology is misused.
Fair enough.
Well, you yourself did point out breach loaded pistols like Derringers (which are still made today)....
I think that was DrGlam's point. The "white" part might not be statistically significant, but the "male" part is.
