I didn’t know Feldman was so well spoken. I used to love “the Coreys” when I was younger. It must be so strange to have a child and realize how wrong some of the shit that was happening to you really was.

It’s awesome of you to share that
I think her expert-level badassery gets her into rock & roll heaven, too!
Ummm, she’s in classical heaven. SHOSTAKOVICH ALL FARKING DAY. And Mahler at night. BAM.
My exact reaction. RIP Ms Little, I’m sure you’re in rock & roll heaven.
What an honor to be able to say you’ve shared the stage with her.
I love that this story is on Jez. I was performing on stage with her on Sunday. I didn’t know her personally, but by all reports she was an awesome woman and will be dearly missed.
What a way to go...
I’d say, “no, but 1 in 3 women have.” Or whatever the right statistic is now. Or “what would you do if I said yes right now? Are you really prepared to have that discussion? Or can you perhaps accept that rape is fucking repugnant and seeing it in every other goddamned movie is something I might find disturbing?”
This is why I refuse to watch Game of Thrones.
Off topic but those pics of Woody Allen flanked by KStew and Gossip Girl really made me ill this week.
Can I add to this? While we are writing Jodie Foster.
Agreed. I think she probably thinks she gets a pass for The Accused since it was based on a true story, though. Ugh, I used to love her but now she bums me out.
Ugh I forgot about the Mel Gibson BS. She’s also worked with Roman Polanski and Woody Allen so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Foster’s not wrong here, but not only is this biting the hand that’s fed her (The Accused), which seems a little rude, also I just cannot with her anymore. She’s such an asshole.
Right? This is the thing: I just don’t need to see it any more. It’s become a sort of bullshit shorthand for “serious” treatment of female characters. You want to show me what a great auteur you are? Show me the relationships between your (named female) characters. Show me a sisterhood, or a mother-daughter…
I read an awesome discussion of treatment of rape scenes. In Outlander (sorry, I love it) there were two attempted rapes back to back (!) and one was directed by a man, one a woman. In the male directed scene, there’s all kinds of T&A, with improbable positioning to get the most out of the forced nudity. It’s also all…
For godssake, this.
It’s an extremely tired trope. I’m also so sick of seeing it everywhere. Also included in tired female tropes ‘not being able to have babies'
