It does. I just got a response. It is covered so, when you bring your new child home, you have at least 12 weeks. Now, that 12 weeks is unpaid which could be hard on a family.

*sigh* I know. Sometimes it seems family values only extend to being born and then, well, you’re on your own. Call me crazy, but maternity leave, healthcare, affordable daycare, safe housing, clean water, etc. seem REALLY good for families and yet we see it as some great unreachable goal.

Canada is head and shoulders above the USA when it comes to leave. We need it, you ( Canada) make it happen. We’re supposed to be ‘The Greatest Country on Earth,’ but we can’t even ensure families get time together.

I second this. I second this all the way. I don’t know if I want kids but by good we should be helping those who are here or, will be here soon. It is not greed, it is not entitlement, it is an honest to God need in this country.

My condolences on the loss of your husband. I know it looks so hollow on the screen but, he sounds like an incredible man and gifted with such a loving spouse. I cannot begin to imagine what you went through and the above makes me want to reach into the screen and hug you.
