OMG, I’m shocked/impressed that was actually on television. I saw it a few days ago and figured it was an internet only thing.

There are a some gun control/generally progressive activist organizations that do exactly that (I know cause I’m on a bunch of lists).

Yep. When my mother developed a bad abscess her dentist sent her straight to the ER for IV antibiotics.

I’m not an expert but my first thought was that looks like the sort of dress a woman of her class would put an apron over to go piddle around in the garden.

“ I read on TVLine that Simon Callow (Sandringham) ad-libbed that bit because he plays Sandringham as being in love with Jamie and to him, Sandringham would always want to look his best in Jamie’s presence.”

That makes sense and it isn’t completely off book. I don’t think he’s supposed to be in love with Jamie in the

Losing the primary to W broke him I think.

Yes, they still do book fairs.

I was never a big fan of suspense novels but her “A Gift of Magic” is one of my all time favorite books.

First off wrong link. I went ahead and googled “Gaza ballet school” and you’re right; there is sort of a ballet school in Gaza. Really there’s one class for 5-8 year old kids at a children’s center. Since kids that little don’t wear the hijab, and not all Muslims in Gaza wear the hijab (and a quick google search shows

Probably not an unpopular opinion.

I feel the same way. I generally try to avoid the soundtrack prior to seeing a new show for the first time but a lot of people are saying that if you go to the show without being familiar with the music you risk missing a lot of the lyrics.

I doubt we’ll ever know but imo there’s a pretty good chance his “serious issue with homosexuality” was that he was a gay man who subscribed to a religion/ideology where that was unacceptable.

That’s assuming the sale goes through which is a huge if at this point. Seems like Gawker still expects to win the appeal at which point everything will go back to the status quo.

2.5% is just not that much, especially considering that the Black/Hispanic poverty rate is about 2.5 times the white poverty rate (about 25% vs 10%). Secondly, from what I’ve read the SE Asian American population is quite small, something like 10-15% of the 5% of Asian Americans so while they are indeed less well off

Honestly they kind of aren’t in the context of public schools. In most areas they’re academically and socioeconomically almost identical to their white peers. My understanding is that this has a lot to do with how/when their families came to the US.

This is something my husband and talked about a lot before we bought our house. I grew up in an area that was extremely diverse both racially and economically and I wanted that for my kids. My husband grew up in a more upper middle class suburb where the only diversity was from the Korean kids and so he didn’t care

Both The Daily Show and The Nightly Show are suffering greatly from having inexperienced correspondents.

That’s a real thing. It goes with the having to work twice as hard to get half as far. One of the best examples I think is sports commentators. The black guys are almost always dressed impeccably and the white guys usually look like they rolled out of bed and put on their polyester suit from 1975.

I was just thinking about this. My oldest is 7 and my youngest is 1 so they were all born while Obama was president. If Hillary wins (especially if she wins a second term) their entire childhoods will take place without a white male president. Pretty cool.

“There’s no reasoning with that level of hatred”

So much this. I’ve been a fan on Hillary since she hit the national stage but I decided pretty early on that it was better for my own sanity/stress level not to engage. My mother canvassed for her in New Hampshire and brought me back some lovely buttons but they’ve
