They could theoretically continue to refuse to confirm her potential nominees but if they spend a year saying “the next president should make this nomination” even they would have a hard time refusing to at least hold hearings. If they do refuse to hold hearings/confirm an Obama appointee and then continue on…

Saying you oppose a particular nominee is completely different than saying you will refuse to consider any nominee.

But again, you’re talking about an occasional thing with extenuating circumstances not every weekend for 4 months.
