Yeah, my cat is 20 and I’ve had her since I was 15. According to the vet she’s in mostly good health (just some decline in kidney function) but realistically I know that she could go at any time and I know I’m going to be a mess when she does.

To be fair a lot of the time the doctors want to follow best practices but their hands are tied by the hospital administration. As someone pointed out upthread in a lot of places there just aren’t any alternatives to the Catholic hospitals so they’d have to uproot their entire family to get a job elsewhere.

Now now, she does admit that there are some things that are necessary but don’t “spark joy” (like important documents). I have to assume that she would therefore allow us to keep our dumpsters and sewage treatment plants.
