Now I *really* have to see it! Although I'm wondering if we're going to see it in a theatre or just wait for the DVD... Husband wanted to see it. Maybe with you lowering our expectations, it won'e seem quite as awful?

There was something Stephen King wrote a while back in a short story, about how even the dumbest person alive with the morst boring possible real life has worlds of wonder inside their minds. I forget the actual quote, but it's stuck with me for decades.

I'm kind of cheering for the evil wizard, based on these trailers.

Yeah, there seems to be a real dearth of good-looking men in there.

Why can't they make the Vorkosigan series starring Elijah Wood as Miles before he gets too old?!?

a la the Sharing Knife series. Yeah. You'd be a hell of an assassin.

I think consent is always the key. In reality, a lack of consent is illegal for a reason; in his writing, the lack of consent is explicit and a highly emphasized point.

The distinction being that in the BDSM community slavery is always entirely consensual and if the slave wants out, there's always an escape hatch. In his books, there's not. What he describes in the Gor books is a highly romanticized version of rape where she's always hot and she really does want it.

It's very interesting to see how carefully you wrote these questions. I imagine he's received a *lot* of harsh criticism over the years, and could be very sensitive to any hint of "how could you!" in an enquiry.

It's possible to manage without fire if you're willing to completely change how you live. And fire is one of those things that's difficult to obtain accidentally in northern climates - if you lost it, if it went out and you didn't know how to get it back, you'd just adjust.

saw it in the store, but it was in hardback and I haven't been to an American library yet so I don't have a card. Picked up "The Sentinel Mage" and "The Midnight Mayor" instead.

Didn't anyone walk up to her and ask if she was ok, or if she'd been locked out of her room?

I bought "My Blood Approves" because it was cheap and in the genre I was reading at the time. It kind of sucked, no pun intended; put it down and still haven't finished it yet. But hey, it also was kind of cool. Like someone said - it was good enough to read. Definitely mockable and silly in places, but I've paid way

Tagline strangely appropriate, in that: There was only one. The rest were abominations which we shall not discuss.

I like this. Q: "Are Audiences tired of being lied to?" A: "Yes." No waiting to the end of the article for the conclusion, straight to the point. Nice.

Wicked! I love his stuff. This is going to be awesome!

I think I safely can say you'd be welcome at any dinner table we sit at. :)

That would be awesome. :) Past couple weeks have been interestingly busy - bought cars, dental and medical catch-up, buying a house - but it should slow down soon. It *has* to slow down soon, I start work next week!
