I hate none of these so much as I hate Wuthering Heights.

Ugh, I have been around that type of Mean Girl, it’s so unnecessary. My niece looooves her, and I won’t burst that bubble — but if I ever run into her in Fountain Square, I’ll think a severe thought about her behavior!

Love It or List It has the WORST manufactured drama, it’s so phony, but I can’t help but love (a) Hilary’s renovations which are usually pretty good, and (b) the fact that SHE WAS IN ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!!!

My dad called this “catch-and-release shopping.” While I acknowledge that shopping online makes it harder to fit things precisely, this philosophy is terribly wasteful. I’m not sure “streamline” is the right word.

I’m familiar with bulgogi flavors (yum), and this was more chili-forward than that. Had maybe the tiniest bit of sweetness but wasn’t sweet like hoisin, and to my recollection it may have been a little garlicky. It could very well be something the restaurant made...

Definitely not hoisin, I know (and love!) that one...the shacha, though, I wonder about that one. Thanks for the tip, I’ll find some at my local Asian market and give it a try!

I ate at a sort-of pan-Asian restaurant in Providence, RI last year and there was a sauce the owner called “Chinese barbecue sauce” — it was about the consistency of sriracha or ketchup, and had sesame seeds in it. I am, although a different side (professional/academic). And yes, I wasn’t really surprised about S&G given the increased corporatization and “streamlining,” but it is sad.

I’m excited to read this, and really hope it’s good. TNC was pretty nervous about it, about trying his hand at fiction and having it be critically reviewed, when I heard him speak a few months ago. But I have high hopes for it, and him.
