Another nickel-and-diming spending nightmare is about to be upon us: The scourge of "stocking stuffer" shopping. Spending $3-5-7 a pop on some little trinket that will just pile onto your mountain of clutter is SUCH A WASTE — yet it's part of the Christmas tradition in so many households. It won't die out in my

For the last 6 weeks, I've been purposefully cutting back on exactly this kind of spending — a coffee here, a McMuffin there, a needlessly-expensive lunch, a new t-shirt just because it's on sale — and I think it really adds up quickly. My guess is that I blew $50-75 a week beyond what I really needed. Stopping that

Needed this right now, thanks. I agree with looking for help wherever you can find it, but frankly some of my friends are...not helpful, shall we say. Sometimes a bit toxic. And it's hard to make new good friends as a grownup! But I'm looking for potential changes to make, big and small, so we'll see.

Those little RBs like Sproles and MJD have always been a problem for the Colts. Sproles chewed us up more than a few times, as a Charger and Saint. And MJD was always about the only thing Jacksonville ever had that worked against us (sometimes well enough to win).

Go Colts!

LOL, I accept that corollary. And I choose non-slovenly but comfortable things, personally — clean and fairly fitting, soft fabrics, ALWAYS a scarf. I like to look decent. But that's just my rule for me.

Amen. As long as we're all decently clean and as odor-free as is reasonable, I don't give a shit what any of us are wearing.

Wonder Twins Power Activate — form of: that water that is sliding down Idris Elba's body, holy god.

Yeah, that's what I figured — I just wish it was different, you know? We're forced to wait for this huge machine to move, and we can't throw money OR people at the main part of the problem. There are corollary issues that could maybe be streamlined, concerning the metadata of the kits or the project management of the

Is there anything at all that members of the public can do, on an individual level, to help resolve the rape kit backlog? I understand that rules of evidence must be followed lest cases be put at risk, and that risk probably precludes individual action — but I sure wish there were some way that volunteer labor could

The "mayo on things is really common in Japan" is new knowledge to me — interesting, I'm curious how the tastes differ, and whether it's a simple egg yolk/oil/vinegar emulsion or has additional ingredients. Maybe that white sauce that I denigrated in a previous comment is authentic in a way we didn't realize. (Still

Oh, I once went to a Japanese steakhouse that did that, we didn't understand why someone got mayonnaise on their scallops. Disgusting!

That ranch thing is utterly foul. The only comparable behavior to which I will admit is getting two of the ginger sauces (instead of one ginger, one mustard) at Benihana or places of its ilk, and using that liberally with my rice and vegetables. But ugh, ranch, barf.

Oh, but Schatzie, Pola, and Loco must be having the most divine cocktails on a cosmopolitan balcony, at this very moment!

My grandmother has restaurants do this with FISH.

You're doing the Lord's work.

That pork parfait is AWESOME.

Indy native here, and Colts fan since they moved here when I was 11. I think the organization should've left the name and colors (and thus the history and titles) behind, when they came to Indy. I understand transferring the brand value, but it's a shame. Bob was a chump.

Workingman's Pilsner, Fountain Square Brewing Co., Indianapolis.

I read that as Durante-esque and was confused.
