Yeah all that talk about Nestor being his “son” was just a way for Gaetz to have a means to deflect potential criticism of him being racist. Full stop. Opportunity presented itself to do so and he did just that.

I’m sad about the closure because I met some fantastic friends through the improv program there and saw some truly wonderful shows, but I also remember hearing all kinds of stories and experiences of people about management’s complete lack of concern over various indiscretions and the racial disparities.

We are in agreement. That was the subtext of my first point.

Breonna Taylor hasn’t received justice and she was an EMT, someone who white people especially would call “respectable” or a “hero” as an essential worker, but only in a broad conceptual sense. Once her Blackness came to light, there was no rush to get justice.

I was going to say, I hope that asshole got fired or faced some kind of consequences because I hadn’t seen it earlier. BUT I’m glad that her bosses at least realized how much of a liability she was, even if it doesn’t really do much to change how they operate as an organization.

Faux Deadspin doing this shit does not surprise me at all. The former Deadspin Idiots (their term, which I lovingly use now) had some ridiculous takes at times, but they were generally smart, thoughtful, and had great analysis of sports and culture. Magary, Burneko, et al had a great way of storytelling and weaving…

That is amazing in the worst way possible.

I wind up waiting around a lot for emails since my work has slowed down. And at the end of the day, even though I do complete some substantial things (though not nearly as much as two months ago), I’m left wondering what’s next and “fuck, this is taxing”.
