Love Lindy West’s writing. Her piece on why Love, Actually is a terrible movie is still one of my favorite takedowns of a movie ever written and I guess that means I really should check out Shrill! Anyone else watched it and can recommend?

In Australia, I think they’re placed in freezers.  Because they’re exothermic, dying of cold doesn’t cause the same pain it does to an endothermic mammal (where the body fights to maintain its core temperature).  It’s a very quick and humane death.

I’m always deeply disturbed that these people are so quick to assume modern medicine is dangerous despite huge bodies of data suggesting otherwise, yet are more than happy to try methods that have no evidence of efficacy or safety.

As someone who works with kids on the spectrum I feel like I am lucky because all the parents I work with hate the McCarthys of the world. Its the parents of the kids not on the spectrum who are the most adamant about this anti-vaxx shit because they are afraid their kids are gonna end up like the kids I work with.

I can’t believe people are putting children into hyperbaric chambers. They are not to be fucked around with. I had a doctor recommend Igo in one to stop skin necrosis from a brown recluse bite and it was one of the most horrifying experiences in my life. And I was 22. I can’t imagine putting a kid through that.

As a doctor, I will never forgive Jenny McCarthy, ex-Dr. Andrew Wakefield, and people like this for disseminating such misinformation to the world and causing such a backwardness in the public scientific knowledge base.  May they rot in hell.
