The whole premise here is flawed, given that the best case scenario for news outlets in the US is that they’re owned by narcissistic billionaires, who see themselves as modern Rockefellers.

The ones owned by hedge funds are far, far worse. And since they balance the books by further layoffs and cutting into the actual

so it’s a run of the mill keygen that’s a tad bit late to the party?

Oh you mean an entire culture based on working yourself to death to be “self-made” or having strong “work ethic” will give a lot of people chronic pain and diseases? Also

Holy shit. What a revelation.

“Profits have hit 20-year record highs, we’ve slashed our staff to skeleton crews, we’re paying executives 10 times what they were being paid 10 years ago, and now it’s time for us to pass these savings onto the consumers... in reverse...into our pockets.” — typical capitalist.

Yep, whenever a company tries ‘something new’ “innovative”, tries to justify the ethics behind the decision/greed through corporate-lingo and succeeds, other companies will follow suit. Companies test the waters all the time of what they can and cannot get away with, it’s how they get more powerful.

Also, go into your torrent client's settings and set it to only use your VPN's virtual network adapter. Otherwise it will use any connection available and if your VPN disconnects for some reason, you don't want your stuff downloading via your regular connection.

My understanding is that the CMA’s ruling can only overturned on technical grounds - ie: they applied the rules and regulations incorrectly, rather than on the facts themselves. I am all for them sticking it out and refusing to bend the knee.

Don’t harass the developers.

Always worth remembering that the Writer’s Guild concerns over streaming back when they striked in 2007 (I think?) turned out to be 100% accurate: streaming was going to be used to cut out writers from pay almost entirely.

This one goes out to everyone who has ever said “only fans of this series should be on the review”, a practice that serves nobody except the fans who were already gonna play the game anyway.

This is just proof that paying artists per play of each song is a dumb business model, and deserves to get upended. We need a more equitable model that doesn’t depend on ratings to determine who gets paid.

There were models that showed the real predicted rate, but they were deemed “doomer” and scary.

I don’t care if they do or don’t make sense - we need to stop mergers in the first place from being so common.  A lot of our current late-stage capitalism woes can be seen in the tales of the late 19th century as well.

My GPU has 24GB of GDDR6X. All the games that have had issues recently, still have issues. Some games have been VRAM hogs, but VRAM hasn’t been anywhere close to the, or even a core issue with any of these releases, so grinding your Nvidia ax here just makes you look dumb as hell.

People don’t seem to get that the purpose of these agencies isn’t to just stop monopolies from happening, it’s also to prevent monopolies from happening. Yeah, cloud gaming isn’t a big thing right now, but as time marches on, everything that can is going digital, eventually it’s going to be big, that’s inevitable.

“The CMA’s decision hinges on cloud gaming tech that no one believes in yet”

I remember all the men on Twitter who suddenly turned into orthopedic experts when MTS talked about the specifics of her foot injury.

Marginalized and suppressed because there were so damned many of them! Socialists openly ran for office at every level. They had a healthy media ecosystem. And waves of European immigration early in the 20th century brought working people who were more than familiar with anticapitalist thinking and culture.

I once asked my boss if we could discuss the possibility of getting a raise and her response was “I can’t just GIVE you more money!”
