On one hand, I think it’s cute when non-artistic businesses and professions have their own award shows. It doesn’t matter if you’re hotel employees, criminal lawyers, or marketing executives.

It made what was essentially still sitting at home watching TV feel like you were actually doing something. 

Being able to browse for cool, hard-to-find movies is what I miss most about indie video stores. I wouldn’t have been able to see Battle Royale, Lone Wolf and Cub (the real version), or a lot of other rarities without the knowledgeable hand of the store owner.
