Great questions, many I also have. Hoping the final season does a better job on the micro levels of storytelling. I enjoyed the season but there definitely felt like there were more gaps along with the uneven bouts of storytelling.

I liked Maggie with DeLuca. A Lot. Their scenes were cute and refreshing.

That was my "never ever again" breakup with the show.

It's not just about Maggie. It's also after reading her Scandal recaps too. I don't care if she doesn't like Maggie but I tend to find this recapper has a double standard with Black women on Shonda shows and I find that shady.

Nah. I stick by my observations on Black women and Shonda shows with this recapper. I've read enough of her commentary and was not alone in noticing it on her Scandal recaps as others would call her out on misogynoir re: Olivia and I see her doing with Maggie here.

Ah, so you're ok with devaluing Black women as long as you can prop ship history since that seems to be all that matters in your rebuttals. Alrighty then.

Which doesn't negate my points about the erasure of Valerie (or other people of color) nor that the show is failing overall regarding representation.

Nah.

That wasn't quite the point I was making about Maggie and this recapper - I also remember her Scandal posts and the misogynoir against Olivia - but I get what your point.

I'm fine with them on their own merit but I think they're overpraised as "perfect."

Riverdale is doing a trash job at representation. They hired a bunch POC and then either don't write for them, don't use them, or in the case of Chuck give his character really uncomfortable racial subtext situations.

YAWN at the needless hate on Maggie in the recap but I'll be surprised when a Black woman on a Shonda show fares decently with the recapper on here. More so because of the double standard regarding Meredith's selfish and juvenile behavior this entire season with this story and giving her a pass not to mention Nathan's

Yawn at another recapper with Fitz bias. I'd rather a decent review with balanced snark that OTT cheap shots just because. That's juvenile and not entertaining since it's more about personal bias than what actual happens on the show.

So would the more accurate title be that Riverdale sidelines Black and Asian characters? Not sure how that improves the sidestepped conversation nor acknowledges valid criticisms in the article. I know The CW has a terrible record of showcasing Black folks overall but it's embarrassing how little this is being talked

The pacing/editing is still off. Not sure why Riverdale is struggling so much with that.

I disagree. I think DeLuca actually worked well as a love interest for Maggie in S12 until they were broken up to play unnecessary interlopers in S13.

I found this episode to be slow and rather boring. The only scenes I enjoyed were Mrs. Cooper vs Mrs Blossom and the Parents Cooper fight. The pacing was off - I thought it was also off in episode 7. The first 6 eps I enjoyed but I feel like this show isn't sure how to juggle it's cast well so some stories and

Then did Shonda interfere more with Grey's since Scandal was delayed? Something happened cause it's just been really off this season from jump, and if not the stories from jump, then the executions. Maybe they needed some fresh blood but the writing room completely lost its mojo between S12 and S13.

Yes, this exactly! The bad Alias/24 hybrid hasn't worked for Scandal but Shonda is determined to continue with it.

Nah, they were fine then. Olitz didn't get tarnished with crap writing until Shonda retconned Mellie from a greedy stone cold bitch to a "poor victim." I recall the people who called out Shonda's retconning of Mellie and her defensiveness about it on social media (except most of the media that continued to kiss her
