Eh. I thought of leaving my comment that way, merely as kind of a preface to say that even though I’m not a fan girl,I feel for her. I get it.

The Romance languages are quite similar and (not that I speak them, I am only told this) it is quite easy to become fluent in one once you know another.

I know a guy who claims to be fluent in five languages. Turns out he’s not so much fluent in Italian as much as he (to quote him) “knows a smattering.” I now question his grasp of at least two of his other fluencies.
