With EVs taking gas taxes away that are used for roads we should instead switch to taxing based on miles driven and weight. The heavier cars put more wear and tear on the roads anyway. So if vehicles will pay less tax when lighter that will incentivize car makers and buyers to care about weight

Flex is nice and all but it still doesnt have the space and practicality of a minivan. it straddles the middle between the full capabilities of a minivan and an SUV but its more SUV

Getting a minivan is being confident and getting the best car for your needs.  everyone else thinking that an SUV or SUV looks better it fooling themselves. They get a worse car thinking it looks better. Its like the guys who get a combover hanging on to the strands of hair they have left thinking they are fooling

Im expecting to first see a Mustang Min-E-Van

Mercedes also clearly says its not capable of making cheap cars at all. no surprise

Batteries dont degrade that quickly if they are properly designed with a cooling system and if they are charged properly.  I have a friend with an original model S p85.  he has over 2590k miles on it.  He still has 89% range at over 220 miles of range.  What car companies need to do is make a car with 2 or three

gotcha was remembering it wrong
The hummer only gets that CO2 with driving if you charge it by the average american electric grid and assume that grid never gets cleaner (which is not the case) Is can be charged with zero emissions electricity and owners can do that through their electric company without installing

When comparing the least efficient EV to the most efficient tiny truck its likely they come up even. The 200kw battery of the hummer products 6tons of CO2 to make. if you drive a 40mpg car 28,000 miles it emits over 6 tons of CO2. So over the lifetime of the car they are probably about even. But thats comparing it to

very soon rental properties will have charging available as well.  it will be true for them as well just like how rental properties eventually added things like AC and indoor plumbing they will soon have charging ports in lots as well

thats not at all true. you need to check the numbers on this because you are way off.

no one is going to replace their full size truck with an accord or maverick. someone replacing their accord or maverick with a fully electric car charged only by green energy has less positive environmental impact than someone replacing their full size truck with a full size electric truck

friends with the i3 do the euro mod that allows it to drive further and use the full gas tank.  it starts using the range extender earlier in the trip too

I think your numbers are off

yeah people arent thinking about things correctly. A shorter range EV will not only cost less it will weigh less. Id love it if they sold EVs with optional battery banks. only need 150miles of range opt for the cheaper lighter car. Need the extra range? pay $8k more and get the heavier car. Got the short range and

Im not in the market for a car now but next one will be PHEV or EV if i can find one thats fun to drive like an electic GTI hot hatch. but this mini is a likely used contender for me

I do agree that these being so big are not good and neigher are their ICE versions that are the same size. but getting people out of full size trucks into full size EV trucks is a win. youll never convince them to get a smaller car because their pride is why they buy the big one a lot of the time

average new car in america is $50k. the miniEV starts at $30k.  Once there is a used market then used Evs will be comparable to used ICE.  in fact before the pandemic they were less when comparing comparable cars like a nissan versa compared to a nissan leaf of the same age with teh same miles

we rent cars for road trips all the time and its cheaper in the long run that putting that wear and tear on your car.  But its not necessary for most since most have two cars in their household.  Just use the gas powered one when going on a road trip. the other car can easily be a short range EV commuter

What people get confused about is the kind of emissions. Battery creation emissions are not climate warming carbon emissions. they are things like toxins and waste that have to be handled correctly but not CO2 release. Also the maverick has these same batteries as well but a smaller number. When it comes to climate

I was curious to put real numbers to it myself because id heard this explained before but never with US electric grid numbers
