Although I think this girl wad raped, I was confused by this wording: "As the two began having sex"...they weren't having sex; he was assaulting her. I don't understand why it was phrased that way. I can see why you might have been confused.

Too bad your young mom didn't teach that your experiences are not universal, and that what works for one person might not work for another. It's amazing that you're apparently 28 years old and haven't learned that.
No, all because our "justice" system is racist, classist, and unjust. People should keep an eye out for young children on their own. I agree that it would have been better for the adults who saw this kid to simply ask her if she's ok and get an understanding of what's going on rather than immediately calling the…
I think you'd only be a "bad" feminist if you insisted that every woman should change her name when she marries. I think I would base my decision on changing my name on how much I liked my partner's last name...pretty superficial I guess! =)
I just spent the 4th sighing wistfully and wishing I was with Taylor Swift. Oh well. Maybe next year.
Who's, not whose. If you're going to insult the intelligence of people who like a book you don't like, maybe use proper grammar.
I agree that the way these anti-thinspiration people handled this wasn't ideal. One person should have simply said, "Hey, that word actually has some pretty negative connotations that you might not be aware of" and provided some links and left it at that. However, this "one more satisfied customer" thing is bullshit.…
I'm sorry for what happened to you, and that reporting it made things worse. Sadly this is all too common- our system often does not respond effectively to sexual assault, abuse, and violence against women.
Hm, I get the idea behind this but I'm not sure about the message or execution of it. For one thing, I really hope she checked with the friend before doing this- it's not her experience to process or share with public. For another thing, in a lot of states, there's a statute of limitations on childhood sexual abuse,…
Because men rarely if ever get asked if they can do well both at a high-level job and being a father. Yet pretty much any woman in a high position gets asked. It's a line of thinking that sucks for both genders- it diminishes the importance of fatherhood and assumes that the most important role for a woman is mother.
But do you even care about raising women up? Or do you only care about not bringing men down? Fair enough if it's the latter, but I wish you'd just admit it. Or once in a while actually say something that relates to equality for women.
What should feminism be about? I'm genuinely asking you, not being a smartass. You're on here a lot, and never once have I seen you say anything about equality for women.
But telling a stranger online he should kill himself isn't cringey at all.
I waited until my early 20s to lose my virginity and I started feeling like I would never meet the right guy and if I should just get it over with and do it with whoever...but then I DID meet the right guy, and it was awesome, and I was so glad I waited. And no, I didn't end up marrying him. But he was a good guy and…
So on your men's blog where there are articles about men's issues and you can post and talk to other men about what's going on and how you feel, there's a bunch of women who come in, accuse you of being sexist, and try to make the conversation about them? Man, that sucks.
Where did I say that doing the same thing makes the world a better place? However, I don't think it's the same thing. I think it's clearly a satirical response to the WaPo piece and that this would be obvious if you actually read the entire post. And I wish SOME men would just acknowledge that the way women are…
Did you have a problem with the original WaPo headline? Which literally says that all women would would be safer married? Or do you only have a problem when ridiculous generalizations are made about men?
They need to exist to be fucked, OBVIOUSLY.
I wasn't responding to what Rhimes said. Was responding to what poster Pdxwhy said.
I wasn't responding to Rhimes; I was responding to Pdxy's comment that anyone who really wants to travel can do so. I said in my post that I like Rhimes' message.
