Oscar Drill and the Bits?

Yeah, she's basically the film's beard.

No debate about it, Spring Breakers rules.

Saw The Hateful Eight roadshow- NOT in 70mm due to a screwup at the theater (AMC you suuuck), but still, a good, very intense movie. One of the nastiest QT's done, there's a real nihilism to it.

Nah, just a third wheel. She's not bad but there's no point to her character other than someone at some point said "we need a love interest."

Eh, Jan de Bont has Speed to his credit if not a lot else.

Now if they'd managed the Kuribo Shoe the movie might be worth watching.

I dunno, you can argue that for the two other films I mention but Point Break stakes a lot on the connection between these two men, to the point where the "romantic subplot" with Lori Petty's character feels absolutely tacked on.

I'm not entirely sure they didn't just hit one of the default filters on Magic Bullet.

It's incredibly goofy and that makes it great. Bigelow is skilled enough to make the action fun and the film manages this weird atmosphere blending the traditional action movie with California surfer mysticism.

So it's EXACTLY the movie the promos make it look like. That's actually impressive.

It's not like there's ever a clear boundary between what is symbolic and what isn't, though. Everything in a story is there because the storyteller chooses.

Yes, only a prick would use an obsolete format?

I honestly did not perceive any foot stuff.

KB Vol 1 is probably the most pure "lots of people die in bloody and balletic ways" film QT has ever made, there's generally more story and subtext in his later work, but it feels like everyone has different tolerance levels for the guy's quirks and indulgences.

Always liked her and she does a great job here.

Morricone, but apparently Carpenter made some alterations?

The door gag is also a rule of 3 thing.

Were the stakes a nod? I know they had 'em in The Thing but I also know that you'd kinda want that in a blizzard.

So I went to see this in 70mm at a late screening since earlier ones were sold out, and lo and behold there were projector problems so we got digital instead, and AMC had to be cajoled into giving us passes despite this being a more expensive screening, because they had like maybe 5 people working the multiplex.
