Prepay (at least in the SE US) became a thing after Hurricane Katrina caused gas prices to acutely skyrocket in 2005. Prior to that, you could pump and then pay at most places, although most people were already using pay at the pump.

So living in Georgia, I obviously have to pump my own gas. However, when I go to Costco, it seems like everyone has either moved here from NJ (highly likely in metro Atlanta) or is 95 and can’t remember how to pump gas on their own. The attendants are always having to go from car to car to car to do it for customers.
The first gen Dodge Avenger came out when I was in HS. High School boddagettaflyer wanted one BAD. High School boddagettaflyer was an idiot.
Dad?
Congrats. I have a soft spot for those 90s Suburbans...my best friend in HS took his driver’s test in one way back in ‘97. Back then, in Georgia, the Loehmann’s Plaza DDS office in Sandy Springs had a hill parents could watch their kids take the driving portion of the exam from. When he nailed the parallel parking,…
Oh, go suck on an exhaust pipe. And I say that as a Tesla-driving liberal.
You seem fun.
This presumes you are somewhere that actually has taxis, or are going somewhere that the taxi driver is willing to go.
Sitting at work one day, the charge nurse is bragging about how he never buys tires new, “because that’s a sucker’s game.”
Truth. My dad had a 2017 Wrangler that got attacked by rodents while it was in storage (it was his RV’s toad). They went to TOWN on the wiring harness, due to the soy/plant content. Turns out, the guy two storage units down from him was storing an entire one-car garage’s worth of birdseed (in direct violation of the…
I once struck up a conversation with a Mitsubishi salesman in a doctor’s office waiting room. This was shortly after Mercury had folded and his Mercury store became a Mitsubishi dealership. He was *pissed*d because they had all the foot traffic in the world, but literally couldn’t get anyone in a car because no one…
I have a burner bank account for stuff like this. When I bought my Model 3, I transferred the deposit to the burner account and paid it via ACH. Same for the balance due, which I didn’t pay until I had seen the car (they were like, “You can totally pay ahead of time to expedite the delivery process!” And I’m like, uh,…
My BIL had one of those when his oldest was a toddler. Every time he rode in it, regardless of who was driving, he barfed from car sickness. It got to the point his kid refused to get in the car and would only ride in the family minivan.
At this point, the reliability issues in the GC were sorted out long ago. Pretty sure even Consumer Reports recommends them now (I know they do the Charger/Challenger/300).
Also... “very spacious.” WTF? How tiny is that guy? I’m 6', 185# (smaller than the OP) and I hate sitting in the RAV4 longer than an hour.
I lol’d. I have a 4Runner, and will recommend it to people when asked, but also push used GXs as much. I went 4Runner b/c I didn’t really need a V8 and I wanted CarPlay.
Me, a Tesla Model 3 owner: “Why the fuck would anyone voluntarily pay $10,000 for vaporware?!?”
So, Deadpool?
Based on the photographs, maybe it is so you can see out the back while the trunk lid is raised? ::shrugemoji:: I don’t know if 1970s Italy had home improvement centers (“Deposito di casa! Come la gente fare di più!”), but maybe that’s how they got lumber, potting soil and flowers home.
