Don’t listen to much of what he says. Counter-steering is a fundamental aspect of controlling a motorcycle. The physics of steering a single-track vehicle are significantly different from how one controls a two-track vehicle.

Well stated. I was just going to tell him he was a moron, but your response was kinder and far more generous. You can’t steer a bike without counter-steering, and it’s shocking the number of riders who aren’t aware of this fact. Still the myth persists in spite of physics and many experts on the subject painstakingly…
Personally, my beef with GMOs has little to do with the safety when it comes to edibility. I’m concerned that they’re deliberately breeding crops that make farmers dependent upon a single organization for all their production. Add to that the fact that the same companies produce most of the very unsafe chemicals used…
Not recommended is usually just a translation for “lawyers made us put this here.” There are lots of vehicles capable of towing if the driver isn’t completely ignorant of driving physics. I haul a small utility trailer with a sportbike on it using my 2014 Mazda3 on a somewhat regular basis during the summer. You just…
I really hope this succeeds, though I have my doubts given the history of this company. The closing of the Mitsu plant in my hometown created a lot of unhappy people, and there didn’t seem to be much optimism about the Rivian plant actually building anything. If they can actually start building and selling these,…
To be fair, as an upper middle class white man, some of the policies that a liberal administration would likely want to enact could impact me negatively from a financial standpoint. Doesn’t stop me from supporting and voting for them because I believe the greater good will be served by a progressive agenda instead of…
Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood. Apologies and carry on. Your comment now makes sense to me.
I think you may have missed some of the important characteristics of this particular engine. It is not a diesel, it is a gasoline engine with diesel-like efficiency. Mazda didn’t work harder on the diesel, they worked on making their 4 cylinder gas engine better and put it in a mild hybrid drivetrain.
Depends on the circles you travel in, to be fair. Jalopsters might judge Pious owners, but lots of people aren’t paying enough attention to the cars around them to give a damn.
Hey, I have a 919! But it’s a Honda. And has two wheels. And only makes about 100HP. I’ll go now :(
Isn’t 7 a Land Rover of some kind?
I just had a rental Impala over the weekend. It handled like a barge and skipped over expansion joints in a completely terrifying manner when driving through the mountains in Colorado. The interior was nice enough, but I wouldn’t trust it to last given GM’s reputation. It did have power, but that’s about it. Oh, and…
Well said. This is the point I was making earlier, though you’ve elaborated and clarified quite nicely. It’s like that saying about wrestling a pig in the mud, only in this case the pig is insisting there’s no mud.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from this administration is that anyone who is stupid enough to think Trump is doing a good job isn’t worth an argument. You’re wrong, and I’ll say as much, but I’m going to let it end there. Trump is an idiot, he’s out of his depth, he has no experience in the field, and…
The best solution I’ve seen proposed, although wildly unpopular, is to simply tax the shit out of gasoline. That will force consumer demand to shift because nobody will want a land yacht anymore, and the fuel efficiency numbers will grow as a result since manufacturers will build what consumers are demanding. In…
I’ve had precisely this same thought about the Type R. I can’t imagine many people who can afford this vehicle also being willing to be seen driving one. The target market seems so miniscule. If, on the other hand, they offered an undo option for the more unpleasant design elements, I could see that market expanding.
I don’t get why people are so hung up on the engine sound being part of the experience. From my perspective, every part of riding a bike is pretty much amazing. If you removed the sound, I’d say “meh” and continue having a blast on two wheels. The sound is just a byproduct, not the experience itself. This seems to be…
Illegal immigration is a barely perceptible problem, whereas a trade war is a legitimate problem that could have a massive financial impact across the country. Americans should be far more concerned about Orange Mussolini starting an arbitrary trade war than they are about a problem that barely exists for the majority…
Motorcycles are a terrifying vantage point to get clarity on the actual levels of driver distraction. We’re all going to die.
I had a dark blue ‘88. It was beautiful, had lovely handling, and a pretty impressive engine for its time. I miss that little guy.
